Need help on deciding video card

I have a 5750 and I am struggling between two choices

1 - buy another 5750 for crossfire

2 - sell my 5750 and just go for a 6870

You guys should know my plans. I am not a major gamer, just intermediate. I have been waiting for years for the game I like to play to come out. Diablo 3. Once that game is out I will probably be playing it a lot. Unfortunately Diablo 3 hasn't released its minimum specs. That being said I'm sure my 5750 would do just fine in crossfire for Diablo 3...Just not positive. I plan to run on a 23 inch 1080p LCD monitor too.

With all that being said,

order the other 5750 OR

sale my current one and just get the 6870?

sell and go with the 6870. it has dx11 support, and will leave for more upgrade-ability in the future.

you will always see better performance from a single card over a cfx or sli setup
Although getting a second 5750 most definately would work, I would go with the 6870. More power and the ability to crossfire it later down the road.

While I agree he should go with the 6870, I disagree on your second point. If that were the case, why is the forum full of people with sli and xfire setups?

I know what you mean, but you may confuse someone who's making their first video card purchase if you make a blanket statement like that.

Sometimes two cards is the way to go.

when doing cfx or sli setup, using 2 cards that aren't exactly the same sometimes produce problems, so it is usually easier to go single card setup. i agree that what i said was quite a generalization, but 2x 5750s won't come close to 1x 6870.

honestly, you will see extremely similar performance from either setup.

price-wise, 6870 is slightly better (if you were to sell 5750)
single 6870 ~$210
dual 5750 ~$225
(prices based on averages in google shopping)
