Hi,
I just recently built a computer with the following specs:
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice (2.0 GHz)
ASROCK 939Dual
Sapphire Radeon X550
(2x512) 1GB Corsair Value Ram CL3
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Value

Last night, I overclocked it to 2.21 GHz with FSB set at 220MHz and multipler 10. I did not change any RAM settings. It was kept at DDR400.
Everything seemed to be running OK until I started copying a DVD on my DVD burner. My computer reset in between. It happened twice. I monitored my CPU's temperature just before it reset and it was 39 C.

Now the important thing is that I have a 380W power supply. Is this too low? Is that why it reset? My max voltage I can give to the CPU with this motherboard is 1.45V.

Can someone please help me with this? I would like to have my CPU running at 2.4 GHz. What settings should I use?

Thanks!

That's the thing, you ram WASN'T running at 400DDR it was running at 440DDR after you upped the HT by 20.

Go into your bios and clock down your ram with the divider so it actually runs at 366mhz or even 333mhz before the overclock.

After lower the ran speed and bringing the HT up, your processor will increase in speed and your ram will increase as well, but since it started out at 366mhz or 333mhz, after the overclock it will put it back to he stable 400mhz range.

i would adjust your ram timings first before messing with your multiplier. i oc'ed my 3000+ from 1.8 to 2.5. my multiplier only goes to 9x, but i never changed it. ht i did change from 5x to 4x. ram timings is where my problem was at.

if my RAM is CAS LATENCY of 3 can I manually change it to 2.5 in the BIOS? I'm a bit confused. Some people say HTT = 4, some say HTT = 250 MHz are they doing HTT*FSB ?

Hi, here's a screenshot of my CPU-Z screen. My voltage changes alot from 1.440 to 1.480. Is this ok?
i'm a noob. Can you guys see if these settings are good? My system is stable. I tested it using prime95.
If you guys have any suggestions on improving this please let me know.

By the way, in the BIOS, my CPU to LB speed is set to Auto. Is this ok?
Thanks a WHOLE BUNCH !

See if you can push your HTT further so you end up with a 2.5ghz CPU overclock and that would put your ram around 215mhz.

IF it doesn't, bring you HT multi down to 3x and if that doesn't work, loosen up the timings slightly on your ram. (Maybe 2.5-4-4-8, or 3-3-3-8)

That would give you an extra kick in the pants.

IF you want to take all of this to the next level download superpi and/or use a benchmark that comes with one of your games and note the differences before and after making OC changes.

IF you bored you can even document your settings now and put things back to stock run the benchmarks, document the numbers and then apply your OC again and run the benchmarks again to note the differences.

Using this method I was able to find the sweet spot of my setup cause just because any one number is higher doesn't always mean it's "faster".

OK... the HTT is like the FSB of the older MBs.
The HTT will increase both the CPU and RAM's buss speed.

HTT relative to the RAM.
It, the "LDT" uses a 5x default, the HTT is 200MHz default so... LDTxHTT=
5x200=1000 You want to keep below 1000
when upping the HTT the LD is reduced
201-250 use an LDT of 4x
251-333 use 3x
You can up the LDT (Memory Controler) voltage 0.1, 0.2 and some MBs have 0.3v

On the PS.. you will probably need a more powerful PS...
DO NOT go by "Watt" rating alone!!!
To get higher speeds from the RAM you can increase the vdimm. 2.7 is safe for any RAM and most are ok with 2.8v

On the CPU voltage. Regardless of what you use, WATCH your temps and keep the Full Load max at or below 50c!
Not knowing what FHS you have... the stock unit should be ok with the vcore upped to 1.5v

Please got to your "Profile" via the "USER CP" @ top of page and put your system specs in there, it helps us help you!

About the PSU, you should be OK with that as long as you don't go adding in a new videocard like a 7800GT+, x1800xt+ and some more HDD or CDroms.

The quality of the wattage plays a big part.

For example, my 380 TPII Antec PSU is probably just as powerful as a 400w-430w PSU from a less quality brand.

hey there good pick i have nearly the same componets and have had some trouble overclocking i had my asrock sitting at 2.35ghz with out the volt mod ill give you a screen shot and my settings they should work
also turn of cool and quiet and DONT DOWNLOAD THE NEW BIOS USE 1.2 OR OCWBENCH BETA 1

put you multi to 10x and vcore to 1.45v

your ht/fsb = 230 then check if it is stable with prime for 10mins then up it 5mhz until it is unstable and drop 5mhz

your htt= 4x which is 800mhz /16bit do this for the nb and sb as well

your vdim on same menu as ^ set it to high =2.7v

for your ram put it on a divider of =166 seeing you have value ram the same as me lol but you cant clock that ram any higher than
215 i have herd so try those setting out and email me if any trouble ill help ya all the way

also my ram timmings are slow here but thats because i needed to reflash my bios as something happened dunno but it works fine know should be higher than that also i read a couple of people have had 2.4ghz with out the vmod i carried out the vmod and i have mine at 2.5ghz
JUST EMAIL OR WRITE IN IF ANY PROBS AND FILL IN YOUR USER CP PLEASE SO WE CAN HELP YOU MORE THANX
