Q6600 will probably do 3.5-3.6GHz, which is definitely safe, if your temperatures keep in a control.
humm thx for the info....so 3.5 with stock heatsink and fan? and if so how do i do that in bios lol sry iam a newb at this
I don't have a P5Q but this post may be of some help to you:

There are also some bios setting posted in the tread that you can try as well.
Q6600 definetly will not come close to 3.5 with stock heatsink. Maybe 3.2 but that all depends heavily on your vID.

Google coretemp, download it, run it and see what it reports back for your Q6600 vID.
ok i dled coretemp very nice tool works grate with g15 lol what am i looking for max temp? or my temp that iam at right now? max says 100c and between the 4 cors av.... 40c no load.
I would say 3.4 is a safe bet. Depends totally on your VCORE tho

i love the feed back so far this is alot of help but one of my main questions is what should i do in bios to reach my goals, its all greek to me lol
ok i ran a stress test
at 100% on all 4 cores for about 10 min the temp stopped going up at 60C on all of them and iam at 2467.36Mhz (274.15 x 9.0) at 1.3250V according to 32bit coretemp software. is this good or can i go higher? if so how?

thx man it helped alot iam not going to get into volts yet but i just took my first step into overclocking with FSB and its working good i'am at 3.0gig (333.95 X 9.0) - 1.325v, stress test ran for about 10 min and at 100% load C1 hit 77C, C2 hit 72C, C3 hit 73C, C4 hit 73C and did not go higher (with stock cooling) so i think i'am gunna stop there till i get better cooling lol, but non the less thx guys thx ALOT for the help. one more question befor i stop posting and start playing games is 77C high medeum or low.
