This is in the wrong forum, but I didnt know where....

So help me out. I have $100, and I'd like a new mobo, like a DS3 or something, and I need DDR2 for it, like G.skill or something. Now I know what I'm asking for would be hard even with rebates, but if you can find the stuff, I will love you.

Since that is really impossible, if you have any other good suggestions for my rig or digital life in general, feel free to share. The only thing is, dont mind the graphics card, It's now a 7950GT, I just havent updated my specs yet.

Get an old Pentium 4 off eBay.

Absolutely murder the Celeron and will boost your FPS by a lot. I sold a 561 (3.6GHz) for 60 bucks which should leave you with enough money to buy at least 512 more MB of RAM.

Well the limiting factor is my mobo, I only have 2 single channel RAM slots, and I have 2x 512MB. I'd really like to ditch that, and be C2D ready at the same time. My goal is to, as prices come down, build the ultimate pre DX10 system, so first I need a mobo which can do it, and that means new RAM, as I have DDR.

Then save your money. 100 dollars won't buy anything that's decent except for 2GB DDR2.

Yeah, just what I've done over the past year, upgrading this box as I get money or parts.

And I know it won't buy much, that's why I asked if anyone knew of any good deals, with rebates or something.

okay, would $100 be your budget each time ? the reason for this is that if so, then it wont make a difference in which order you will buy components. If not, then one thing at a time can be tackled according to the budget..

edit : just remembered the topic post, it said you dont need a gfx card, sorry, my bad

He'd be better off getting something else rather than a GPU because his 7600 GT would be fine. He'd probably be best at getting a mobo first.

its hard to hear but i think the best bet in this situation is to save a little more. get enough to buy the RAM MOBO and CPU at the same time

MSI P6N SLI-FI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail $114

core2duo 6320 $165

gskill DDR800 Ram 90w/ instant rebate
all together $378 (without shipping)
if you could hold out i think this would be a good purchase (not sure about the MOBO though, i looked for a budget one that you could add a second 7950gt down the road)

Or get 2gigs of memory while the prices are low. Or save it up to buy better parts later.

Well I am mostly concerned with mobo an RAM now, while RAM prices are low and before it's so obselete I don't want to buy it a mobo. I can stick my celly in that for the time being.

But my problem is I have no real source of money at moment, so I'm pretty stuck....
