Need Help with a Kit :(

717 Views 10 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  GAMERIG
Im looking forward to purchasing my first liquid cooling kit and I was wondering which would suit me best. The case will be a Lian Li PC-P80 Armorsuit. I have already been looking at the Swiftech H20-220, Danger Den Tower-21 Cooling Kit 360mm Radiator, and the Coolermaster Aquagate max. Thanks for your replies

I think most people here will tell you to stay away from WC kits. You should just get a nice custom set up to cool the i7!

If you absolutely must get a kit, then go to Petra's and pickup either the basic or elite. They have pretty much the only decent kits around as they're basically a low end custom setup.

If you really want to go liquid, then spend some time on the forums researching and build your own. Low-end liquid is not as good as high-end air, you've been warned.

The Swiftech "kit" is made from decent components and is fine for a cpu loop. The Danger Den Tower 21 kit seems to be ok - it comes with an ok 360 radiator and a choice of pumps that inclue d5 or ddc, but I have not seen any reviews of that water block it comes with "TDX Universal"
Avoid the Coolermaster kit - it is inferior to the other two you listed.

The fact is that rather than purchase a kit, as others have said before me, you are better off buying your own parts individually. If you do not know what you will need, you can read through exactly what the handful of good kits contain and make a shopping list from that. Then look around for the best value of each component that you can find. Not only at E-tailers, but also here on OCN's for sale section. You can sometimes find great deals on components or even complete set ups as OCN members upgrade their equipment or sell it off for whatever reason.

I have a little kit and i love it

The best is to build your own i'm just a cheap-o
Out of the kits you posted, Swiftech is best. It is made up of mid-grade parts. Better than air, but high heat loads like the i7 need better rads than the MCR-320, or at least more of them. Like everyone else has said here, research the forum. Really learn about liquid cooling before you do it. I also learned something that rarely gets said, OVERSIZE your rad. If you ever want to add more components to the loop it is nice to have a high heat dump rad.
Nice list. I was thinking about getting a pre-built WC kit, but seems custom is the way to go then. As soon as I can gather the money and a job, I'll try out my first WC setup and see how it goes.
I have a little H50 kit and love it. but I don't aware there have WC parts can build and custom by person without buy WC kits.. Supercoolest!

the compact H50 kit running in my rig for now while I still learning and research about WC stuffs as you know..
