Hi, This is my first post. So, if there are any mistakes, please point them out.

Okay, My problem is that currently I have a CoolerMaster RS-500-PCAR-A3 500W power supply. it has 2 +12v outputs. Both are 18A. I was wondering if it would be able to run an ATI 5770 card.

My CPU is an old :
CPU: AMD ATHLON II X 4 620

Any suggestions? Any help would be appreciated.

1. Fill out the rest of your system specs in the User CP.
2. Let us know more about what you're wanting to do: gaming? folding? CAD?

Okay, I just added in my system. I don't do alot of gaming. Just occasionally, play some games, such as Borderland, Mass Effect 2, I play those games sometimes. I do some programming for school.

A 5770 will be just fine. It's pretty power efficient so your PSU should be able to run it without a problem. There's no real better choice at the moment at that price range.

That PSU should handle the card and rest of your setup easy if it is up to spec .

Okay, because I thought that the 5000 series would require much more power than the 4000 series in ati graphic cards. Is that true? (Comparing 5770 and 4770). Another question, can someone recommend a good place to purchase this card. Online or real store are okay. I live in Canada Toronto.

Reference 5770 board is rated at 108 watts , 5xxx series actually consume less power then equivalent 4xxx cards , since they are made on 40nm , with exception of 4770 which is also made on 40nm process , 4770 uses less power then 5770 but it is also less powerful as well .

no theyre actually more power efficent..even a 5850 uses as much power as my 250 GTS.

the MSI 5770 hawk is the best you can do if you want a 5770. great overclocking card since its a dual fan and non-reference design

Here in states anywhere from 150 to 180 $ .Not sure about Canada.
