Need help with installing my HD 5870 (PSU & BIOS Problems)

Hi all, newbie to the forums here! I am currently trying to upgrade my Graphics set up on my i5 PC. I researched my specs and all seems to be in order for it to run successfully, however i do need some help.

Firstly i am a bit confused over the right connections to my PSU (OCZ MOD EXSTREAM 500W). It has 2 PCI-E ports, however the card I got came with a 6pin to 2 molax connectors. I have an adapter from molax to PCI-E but i have a normal 6pin to 6pin PCI-E, can i just use this?
I did try with both, however on both runs received an instant BIOS warning beep (AMI BIOS, Continuous high beep; Video Card problem).
Here's a basic Sandra for my system if it will help:

I am very new to Video Graphics and although i have tried to research this for myself, I haven't really found anything to help a noob such as myself! Also doing it myself may end up in a nasty bang!

Many Thanks

The molex-to-6-pin adapter is needed if you only have one 6-pin cord on your PSU. Since your PSU should have two, just use those.

Edit: To clarify, you do need to plug in two 6-pin cables to your 5870.
Plug the PCI-E ones into the graphics card. No need to use that molex adapter.

Try taking out the graphics card and reseating it as well.
Ok then, thanks for fast reply. Just to clarify it is 1x6pin PCI-E to the PSU and another 8pin to 6pin to the PSU as well? Sorry if i'm being an idiot, i have a feeling this is pretty basic.

Yep. No worries, it happens to everyone.
