Hey OCN,

After being offline for a while, I decided to give back to the community.

I'm offering completly free help and support. I have knowledge in CPU, Northbridge (IMC), Hardware choices and more.

Take note I can also help you for other products such as graphic cards, just PM me and I'll help you.

If you started a thread already, asking for help, you can always post it there or PM it to me and I'll gladly go and read it all and see what I can help you with.

Thanks all,

Best regards,

Blostorm.

Edit: Only PM me if it's related to other products than AMD CPU / IMC.

hi blostorm i have a question if i may be so bold as to ask =)
at which point of overclocking your northbridge (with your cpu set to 4ghz),do you stop seeing increases in throughput?
im asking because i can get 4ghz on cpu,and on the nb,but im limited to using ddr2 800,so i soon find that i stop seeing increases due to memory being the bottleneck as opposed to nb/cpu.

The better the best.

I would try to reach 2.6 GHz myself. If it works at 2.6 GHz, try pushing 2.8 GHz. 3.0 GHz is pretty much the max you really want to see improvements.

Some programs using alot of ram will see improvements after 3 GHz but for general use, over 3 GHz is pretty much useless.

For 4 GHz I would recommend 2.6 - 2.8.

Edit: Check this out: http://www.overclock.net/amd-memory/933649-northbridge-speed-vs-ram-timing-significance.html

That guy is a big big RAM FAN / IMC FAN / Everything related to memory stuff.

hey man, thanks for lending some advice! I've made a thread or two before ...

But, now I've got my Phenom II X(3?)4! 720 Black Edition stable at 3.255Ghz but I was wondering why the clock speed is floored to it's max 3255.3~0Mhz is what CPU-Z is showing... Why doesn't my clock speed fluctuate? Is this a problem?

cheers fella!
I did work my way up to max stable cpu speed, then max stable nb speeds, and as im fsb overclocking(locked multi) the ram either rises up to where it will not boot or gets dropped down the next divider, which means im stuck at a max of 453.9 ram frequency until i stumble across ddr2 1150/1200 for cheap (unlikely).

I should have run benches while raising the respective speeds and its only now i realise i can drops unecesary speeds that dont offer any benefit and lower volts to keep the chip cooler.

I will drop the nb to 2.8 and run aida64, i have memory benches for stock and 3.8ghz
nb so by rights i shouldnt see any drop in numbers by dropping a gig in nb.
fingers crossed.

I don't really understand your question. You asking why your CPU Frequency is always 3255.0 to 3255.3 ? I don't really understand. CPU Speed can vary a couple MHz for multiple reasons.

If it wasn't your question, feel free to tell me

Yes, it used to fluctuate between like 1.2Ghz and the max OC whatever I had it at. Now it just stays at the max OC, is this normal?

Above poster win the interwebz!

Cool n Quiet must be OFF. C1E too.

In windows, go to control panel, power options, try "HIGH PERFORMANCE" preset. You can go into advance and set it to never save energy.

Hope it works!

Ok here we go.
I have posted on a couple of sites and searched high and low for answers. But alas to no avail.
I wanted a top spec pc but didnt want to build as was too worried of mistakes.

So I bought the:
Acer Predator Crusader 2
i7 [email protected] Bloomfield
Nvidia Gtx 470
1000w(Cannot find man as no markings)
Intel X58
DDR3 6gb Samsung M378B567FH0-CH9 (3x2gb)
DRAM 582.00MHz
FSB:DRAM 2:8
CL 7:0 Clocks
tRCD 7 clocks
tRCD 7 clocks
tRAS 20 Clocks
tRFC59 clocks
CR 1T
Liqued Cooled. Acer Spec
BIOS American Megatrends P01-A2

I bought this pc as was lead to believe it would be easy to o/c and I liked the idea of being able to do this. So far........
If I leave everything in the BIOS to Auto and just raise the FSB to 161 from 133(stock)
No problems. And see 4GHz with speedstep still enabled.....Sometimes

Then the next day I try say 151 and blu screen.
I have tried to tinkle with the ram settings but I just hit a wall.
And when I post anything I just get well your multiplier is locked-tuff luck

Idle setting gpu PCB:35c GPU:45- My wife always has the heating on, and she doesnt understand when I say I would like it a bit cooler in here for my pc!
Playing MOH/Maxed PVB 49 GPU:71

Any help most welcome.

Hey, I have a 1055T with very low temps now uploading a video to youtube couple of tabs open watching some vids its 28-30C, I have an Antec Kuhler Box Heatsink and it does the job. I really want 4.0GHz stable but I cant get above 3.8Ghz anywhere above and it dies, like won't boot.. Any ideas, I ma fairly noob at overclocking, My voltage is 1.5V any lower at 3.8 and it dies.. I've seen people with 4.2 at 1.5v? Any ideas? thanks mate..

You could have a bad chip. Take note raising the FSB increases your RAM speed. Lower all the multi to be near or under stock settings and try 14x286 @ 1.5v.

You should probably ask around the Intel section. Take note prebuilt PC shouldn't be overclocked. They are made to kept at stock settings. Also, take note AUTO is never a good idea when overclocking. Try the settings manually.

I think 1.4v is the max voltage for Intel but I wouldn't even overclock a prebuilt PC.
