Ill add that when plugging this new fan in the system fan 3 pin slot its runs but at full speed and runs for only a few secs when plugged into the cpu slot

Everything was going well until i turned on my pc. New fan kicked on and then 6 sec later turned off and a warning came up. Is there something i need to change in my bios for this new cpu fan to work since ist 4 pin socket on a 3 pin board?
