Well, these labtec speakers I got for free from some Gran Turismo 3 promotion back in the day are dying on me now and I need some new ones. I'm not some crazy sound guru, but I'm just lookin for some decent speakers. Hoping to find something with 2 speakers and a sub. Budget, I'd like to keep around $50, but suggestions for something that costs a bit more would still be nice. eBay and Craigslist treat me well, haha.

Thanks!

Well, I plan on getting a pair of studio speakers and audio interface for recording in the future. But for the mean time I just need something where I can get freakin stereo sound cuz my current speakers are pissing me off. Haha.

But yeah, budget is really low to the point where I'd think it's probably all the same, haha.

I got my Logitech X-540 (w/ sound matrix control) for $35 refurbished...I needed to solder a few wires due to loss of contact with the volume control...otherwise it works great.

For BNew stuff...I'd suggest getting them Altec Lansing Expressionist Bass it's around $89CND but they sound great and are compact with their dual built -in subs.

But if you're budget is that low...go with refurbished Logitech Speakers...they're pretty much worth it.

keep what you have and save that money for those monitors and interface, i dont think its worth wasting $50 for some speakers that are probably not going to sound that much better then what you current have, although you could go around some pawn shops or thrift stores sometimes those places have some real gems for cheap prices worth checking in my opinion.

As others said, headphones or waiting for monitor is just about the best choice.
However, if you're really set on a cheap set of 2.1s, look for something like this on CL/eBay: Altec Lansing 2.1
Picked up the VS2321 speakers (similar to above) for $30 before I set up my stereo receiver and didn't have much to complain about for the price. The guy had them in just about perfect condition and they still work on a secondary system I have set up.
