Need QUICK advice for Phenom II upgrade

421 Views 9 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  soadrocksever
I need to make a descition to either get the slower Phenom II 925 for its 95 watts of power or gamble on the 940 that uses 120 watts. Accoriding to my motherboard website it says it supports AM3 chips but only up to 95 watts, well considering my CPU now is 125 watts and on a 90nm die im not sure what to believe cause it runs fine never could overclock on stock voltage though. so what should i do,l considering this is for gaming.

Hmm, what mobo do you have?

Gigabyte has a cpu support list, and it shows what processors use.

Also, all the 900 series use the same cores, and from what i understand are just the ones that couldnt be made to the higher models specs... could be wrong on that particuular part

but check the cpu support list and see whats on there for sure, hopefully someone else can help ya better

also yeah i have the same chip as you, b00 higest i could get it STABLE i 3.17 on air @1.45v , one guy got it to 3.45 on water @ 1.45 or maby 1.5 volts.

Slightly expensive, I suppose.
That was my third choice just 20 bucks is quite a bit for a 16 year old with a part time job at a grocery store.. idk i guess its not a terrible substitution, although i do like the black edition in case i wanted to overclock...

and there is the list of cpu's that bios version supports. Odd that your 6000 Windsor runs in it though. It lists the 6000+ but a lower Wattage one.

Edit: It looks like there are two models of the 6000+ Windsor. One a 125w and one is 89w. Are you sure you don't have the 89w one?
