Need recommendations for upgrade please

Ive been a reader of overclock forums for a while its a great site. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but anyway. I want to improve the game performance for my pc. Currently I can only manage to get 7521 in 3dmark06 which is still a big improvement from 3685 before I upgraded my gpu, had a 8600gt at the time.

I can play tf2 with great frame rates with all the highest settings at 1440/900. I bought company of heroes but I cannot run this game smoothly my framerate is only in the 50s but that is at a lower resolution i think 1280/800 and with settings on medium. My analysis is that the motherboard and memory could use an upgrade. My motherboard has only 4x pci-e port and im guessing this is abit of a bottleneck for my 8800gt.

oh yea almost forgot, im poor so no recommending me nvidia gtx 280s
. My budget is less than £100 for motherboard and around £40 for memory. I'm planning to get a better processor in the summer, i dont have the cash for it at the moment.

Thanks

4x PCIe is definitely holding that 8800GT back. A new motherboard and some OC on that CPU will make a HUGE difference.

if you want to go for a little bit higher in ram. I heard the ud3r broke the ram overclocking record. But that is also a really really nice board with ultra durable capacitors and all that jazz

I'd say a new mobo + CPU is more worth the money. Unless you overclock your current CPU to 2.5+. New RAM won't increase much if at all, so you're better off spending it all on the CPU or not at all. Overclocking the CPU over 2.5 or buying one that can get to 3.2+ will get a much bigger difference. Not sure about Pounds, but a good CPU should run you about the same as a budget motherboard (~80$ each). That said, you can always try overclocking and you might be able to up the graphics with the same framerate.
what do you think about this mobo?

atm I will get new memory and overclock my current cpu. eventually i want to get like a q6600 in the coming months.

So with a new mobo and overclock. will I get a good increase in performance with some new faster ram?

I would suggest this mobo:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...=5&subcat=1155

And the E6320 (small mistake in your sig, it says 620) can very easily be overclocked to 3.2Ghz and higher. Combine that with the 8800GT and you are looking at a 12k score in 3DMark '06.

The E6320 has a x7 multiplier so you will need some good PC6400 memory or PC8500.
Abit is out of the business, disregard their remaining products if you wish to avoid future headaches.

I will go with the gigabyte route and pick up an arctic freezer 7 pro like the overclock in your sig. very impressive i must say. I would be very happy to achieve 3.2ghz with my cpu

if anyone can link me to some guides for overclocking to study before i get my parts that would be very helpful.

Check here:
Gigabyte UD3P overclocking topic

The UD3L is basically the same as the UD3P, bit it lacks some features that the UD3P has. Such as an extra PCI-e port and a second GB LAN.

Either way, you can find plenty of info in that topic.
