Hello,

This christmas im upgrading from my 8800gts 512mb to a ATI HD 5770. I have question though.

My 8800gts was a bit hard to get in my case, I had to forcely apply it in there because it was not fitting because the backboard of the computer was close to the mobo. I cant really describe how hard it was to get it in there but I still got it in. Anyways.

This is my current case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811240001

This is my Current Video Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127325

This is my Current Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813121314

That is my current setup located above.

This christmas im getting the 5770 and I was wondering if you think it would fit in this case? If not let me know and I will get

Will the power supply in my current case come out and fit in this new case? Is this case a good size for my new card?

Thanks,
Jake

The 5770 should fit in your case just fine. Although the Scout is a great case, if you don't like your current one, I'd jump on that one

What power supply do you have?

Well, my current case came with a power supply and its a 500 watt. You can see the specifications on my case by looking at the specifications tab

Oh.
I didn't see that it was a 500w PSU

My bad.

Anyways...
The 5770 requires:

Quote:
450 Watt or greater power supply with 1x 75W 6-pin PCI Express power connector recommended (600 Watt and two 6-pin connectors for ATI CrossFireX Technology in dual mode)
(Sapphire 5770)
So long as your PSU has a 6 pin PCIe power connector, you should be good

I hope I got a such thing, I never had to hook my PSU to my card before.
Can you link me a pic of "1x 75W 6-pin PCI Express power connector "
Should look something like this:

The connector on the left should be attached to your PSU, and it just plugs directly into the card's six pin PCIe slot.
The picture on the right is just a molex to PCIe converter, which you would use if you had a PSU that didn't have a PCIe connector (the converters come with most video cards nowadays).

My bad, a 6 pin connector is connected to my video card. I looked in my case and saw it hooked at the end. Do you think a upgrade from a MSI 8800gts 512mb to a HD5770 1 gig is a big difference in FPS? Like will my frames in WoW and Flight sim X increase?

How do you perceive your games right now with your 8800GTS? If it's smooth to you now, I doubt you need an upgrade yet.
