So I want to build another desktop to leave at my other home. I travel between the two everyday and my usage would probably be 60% at the main house and 40% at the other. Should I use my current i5-3570K for the secondary home and build a Haswell system or wait for the new refresh for my primary?

Your 3570K will do fine. From what I understand and see, the Haswell processors are good for laptops (battery power) but you're not going to gain much power if you upgrade, and the desktop Hawell's run hot. Wait for the next gen if you can.

Going for a mini-itx build. This is what my secondary PC will look like if I recycled my current PC into it:

Case: EVGA Hadron Air - $149.99
PSU: Included 500w 80 Plus Gold - $0.00
CPU: i5 3570K**
MOBO: GIGABYTE GA-H77N LGA 1155 - $107.00
RAM: G. Skill Ripjaws 8GB (4GB x 2)**
SSD/HDD: 256GB Sandisk Ultra Plus -**
GPU: Reference Nvidia GTX 770 2GB - **

Total: $256.00

It wouldn't cost too much to convert it over to a mini-ITX build. The new gen Intel CPUs and Nvidia's 800 series has got me thinking I should wait to build a new primary. I figured I could carry the machine to and from everyday for a few months.

I love how your case is the most expensive addition! (I'd do the same thing!)
And good choice on mobo, i'd probably choose the same one, all the other ones around that price range are SATA II other than the ASRock H77M-ITX which i'm not really a fan of
