NEED TO BUY A LAPTOP Today

Hey guys..

Unfortunately my stupid dell xps 1330m died last night and it is out of warranty.
Currently i am in us (canadian citizen) for a business trip and need a laptop ASAP. I was thinking of this
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834117966
with 2 yr extended warranty for 89.99 (does that mean i will get 3 yr warranty? 1 mf warranty + 2 )
I was thinking of choosing either fedex overnight shipping or the ups next day shipping. ups one seems to be about 10 dollars cheaper
what is the difference?
I am right now in Pasadena (CA)
would it make any difference in time of getting them? does newegg, fedex, ups work on weekends?

Also, any suggestion on getting other laptops? i am trying to avoid acers dell etcs and only looking for sony or samsung with extended warranty

If you're in CA right now, I recommend you head to Microcenter in that area. They are having a pre-black friday sale (Unless I read the dates wrong LOL).

The Sony you linked to is a good laptop, I've never had a problem with Vaios before and the specifications look good.
If you can put down a little money, get the new gateway FX series laptop from bestbuy. It's pretty much the best deal in laptops.

how is gateway's reputation on laptop?
can you link me the product?

also does anyone know if the warranty purchased from newegg is warranty by sony? or newegg fixes it?
if so, if i purchase it here and my laptop breaks in canada, would i still be able to get the laptop fixed? (newegg is available in canada as well)

This question applies to the bestbuy (new gateway fx series) as well as microcenter one.. i saw it being about 100 dollars cheaper

Gateway FX series laptops are totally awesome. THere is a 200+ page thread in this forum about the series. Trust me you won't be disappointed with it.

Can't get the link working for some reason, but just look on the bestbuy website.

EDIT, you can get a 3 year warrenty, that even if you intentionally drop it, you'll get a new machine from BB. Also this thing can play crysis at all high settings.

I dunno. Newegg doesn't ship to Canada to begin with so NFI. I would suggest buying a refurb from a local store (Microcenter or other similar big-box) and buying an extended warranty straight from the manufacturer.

Also you're coming up on Thanksgiving weekend so people may be gearing up for the Black Friday rush.

Try a BB location, should be some in stock. Plus you'll get it today if you find one.

Best Buy! Forgot about them.

And pester them till you find out for ABSOLUTELY SURE if a Best Buy computer sold in the USA can be serviced at a Canadian Best Buy later. If necessary spend the coin on some long-distance calls to a Canadian Best Buy.
you might just wanna either go to a frys or a microcenter if urgency is required. That way, you dont need to blow $100 on next day shipping, and you can pick one up that you really like

ok guys thanks for the support

I have called sony US and asked them if i buy an extended warranty it would work in canada, they said no

so i cant get it from sony.com
i cant get it from newegg.com (cuz they are closed and i cant ask them today -_- i need a laptop and this is urgent)

so the frys, if i get a warranty from them, it has to be returend to them to be fixed and as far as i know, they dont have a location in canada -_-

microcenter, is definietly too far for me to drive down (i dont have a car, i can ask for a ride but its too far ~40miles, whereas frys was less than 10 miles away) so i didnt even ask them about warranty

Last thing left is best buy
If, like you guys said the warranty works with bestbuy canada it would be great
but i havent found any product i like

any suggestion??

Other than NewEgg.ca right?

Sure, but then there's still the question of whether a newegg.COM product will be honored by newegg.CA, since you have to buy from the Canadian site to get newegg stuff in Canada.

@OP: ASK the best buy people about warranties and if you have to go up to the senior level staff to get a committed answer that isn't just pulled out of you know where to appease the customer.
Gateway FX owner here, was such a good deal I had to get it shipped from the US to the UK as there isnt any better laptops in the price range over here.

GET ONE!

way out of budget, but it owns. lol. I will never actually recommend a budget laptop.

I agree with sgt though, the gateway fx's are very nice, and you can just go to best buy and pick one up immediately.
