I need a gpu upgrade. Nvidia or Ati doesn't matter just best bang for my buck. Running a 19" 1440x900 monitor. I wold like to be able to run most games at decent framerates. I know I'm not gonna max out Crysis but medium to high with some AA would be nice. All suggestions appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Best bang for buck at the moment is the HD4830. It would also fit your description.
Well for $120 you can basically max out every game with a 4850.

Go for the new GTS 250's or the GTX260 when prices come down
I was looking at the HD 4850's. What about the new GTS250's or should I wait for the HD 4700 series?
Get a 4850 or 4830, whichever one you can afford more :]

i have the 4830 and used it on my 1440*900 screen for a while and i was able to run crysis on veryhigh 2AA and high with 4AA

EDIT: Dont get the gtx 250, its just a rebranded 9800

If you have the money get a 4870, it will have plenty of power for you :]
I knew the GTS 250 was a rebranded 9800gtx+ but isn't the 9800gtx+ a decent card?

It's equal to the HD4850.

lol what's wrong with that?
If you can find one for a good price, it's still a good card

Here is a link from another thread.. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130464
there is nothing wrong with a rebrand, the same features on the 8300GS are in the GTX295. Nvidia hasnt upgraded there feature set. This is the same reason the 6800GS and 6600DDR2 came out in 2005 because it was cheaper to use older GF6 tech. If preformace is good, and features are identical top to bottom where is the issue?
lol i don't see where you guys can pull out so much money from your arse.

get an 8800gs or 9600gt. those two are sometimes under $50 after rebate and free shipping.
the GTX 260's just dropped in price. you could try one of those
I second the motion for a 260 cause of the price drop I heard there gonna be around 160 or so?? which is really good for their performance.
