Network Printing in Ibex help!

302 Views 5 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  dpawl31
Running a clean install of ibex. tried getting a xerox phaser 6100 working on an old install and never got it working.

Remember this is an older network laser printer.

If any linux guru could give me a step-by-step for it, it would be much appreciated. I know when I tried it before it found the printer, but I got some error I can not recall right now. Thanks in advance.

Nobody? that makes me sad. lol
It's only been two hours?

Are you using CUPS? Or something else?
yes, it was cups that gave me the error and I spent hours trying to fix it.

i'll have to do it again to get the error...
I will be honest, you need to be a lot more detailed when using Linux.
What distro, what printer, what/how are you trying to share the printer, what samba, detailed error messages, etc.

In the first post I stated most of that.
Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex
Xerox Phaser 6100

Things I did not go into detail on:
Networked Printer (connected directly to hub, no host machine)
It auto downloaded the drivers.
I just ran a fresh test on this system, and it seems to work fine.
Print job goes to queue, then goes away. No errors.
Printer sees NOTHING.

No idea what's going on... where can I find the log of what it's doing?
