I'm setting up a network with a Linux (CentOS) web/application/DB server and multiple Windows XP workstations and have run into a strange problem. The Windows workstation that I use to administer the server is randomly losing its connection to the server. Two-way communication still works between this workstation and the other Windows PCs and these others can continue to see the server as well.

So far the only fix I have been able to come up with is restarting one machine, while the other is turned off. This can work either way with first shutting down PC and then restarting server or vice versa. Everything on the network is using static IP addresses, with DHCP disabled.

I'm not terribly familiar with network troubleshooting so I would appreciate any feedback on how I can go about determining the source of this problem.
