Never CrossFired before...

Hey guys,

Check the sig rig. I'm looking at an HIS 4850 512MB to go for Tri-Fire. (4850x2 + 4850)

Is there anything I should know? Any advice? The PSU should be able to handle it fine, I believe - please correct me if I'm wrong.

Any problems with Vista 64? Should I drop back to XP64?

All I need is one bridge, correct?

Thanks in advance guys.

you should be all set but may i ask why? most if not all games only utilize a max of 2 cores anyway......
Hard to say if your PSU will handle that, when merely 1 4850 X2 requires 650w. Adding an additional 4850 512MB might cause system instability. Other than that, NO, don't drop back to XP 64, Vista x64 will handle it flawlessly. Most people use 2 bridges in CFX, don't see why, when 1 is fine.

For fun.. but I'll think about it some more.

Biggest concern would be heat - the 4850's already produce quite a bit, and adding more heat into the case might not be healthy. =/

People run 4850x2's on 500-550W no problem from what I've seen.

It's a 1GB (officially) not the 2GB, so it's technically the 512MB X2.

The PSU might just cut it. Would be close IMO. If you have many many case fans or HDD's then you might want to consider a better PSU.

Probably 340W (ish) for the GPU's alone then another 320W (ish) for everthing else.

You should use both bridges, although you could get away with useing one.
