All the excitement about DFI had me forgetting another board which i will be testing over the next few weeks. Asus have released what could possibly be the finest i965 board we will see. Codenamed commando the board is part of the ROG line of boards which also have crosshair and Strker extreme as members.

I have the board and can say I have not yet tested a board that overclocks DDR2 better than this one, if you want to run 1300+DDR this is the board for you

Voltage options are nothing short of stunning, i will post screen shots in the next 24hrs so sit tight. Tests to come in the nex week or so.

1 pic for your enjoyment, you may see others posted as Asus gave a sneek peek of the board here in taiwan at the 1st OCZ Overclocking summit.

I have a feeling this may be the ultimate i965...check the link for a pic, as i quoted for RD600 i will be testing over the next few days, if Asus allow benches to be posted you will have more info soon.

hmm...not to shabby at all...prices?
Looks great, but I don't need to kill my ram with DDR2-1300+ =)

The heatpipes and the ROG adds like $100 to the price... probably another $400 board.

Man this Gaming Board Mayhem is out of control. I always thought the 965 was a decent chipset...glad to see it being "recycled into OC friendly boards. Too bad they want to melt your credit card too.
hmmm think this will be better then a P5B Deluxe? And are those dual 16x pci-e slots??/
Hmm... so many boards coming out, it's hard to choose. This one is a i965 chipset, correct? So what does that entail for SLi? Crossfire?
****ing wonderful.

I spend £125 on a P5B Deluxe, and then something better comes along. -_-

Meh, the P5B should pwn regardless.

And my RAM OWNS.
$105 on a board for me now.

Yay.

Why?

By the time I get bored with this board (Ha! See what I did there?!! ***bbqlmaoroffle) I can buy one of those.

I love it.
I can't wait to see DFI's board...
I know I'll never get a CrossHair or Commando or Striker, but damn, would that overclock nicely and get amazing benchmarks. 4GB of DDR2 1300 Ram, 2x8800GTXs or 2xATi/AMD R600, Intel X6800 @ 5.0GHz, Raid 0+1 150GB Raptors. Mmmm, speed.
Phase Changed CPU + Liquid Cooled GPUs + Amazing Overclocking-ness = Untouchable Benchmarks and FPS.

I really think these boards (and the cheaper equivalents from other vendors) are going to really steal the RD600's thunder. Unfortunately, I have little to no faith in the DFI release....*sigh*
I just noticed that you can see the new mouse from OCZ in the first pic...

Anyway, updated with a screenie of CPU-Z

At little Off-topic, but isn't that a Brisbane screenshot on your profile pic? Is that yours or from somewhere else?

Back on topic, is there any point in running the RAM at that speed? I doubt the fsb will reach speeds of 650mhz...
Just take the smart route and wait 5 years, THEN invest
. You'll save hundreds of thousands of dollars

It is and no, it's not mine. I found one from the same site that shows it at 3.5 but I don't know if it's real =/

There isn't any point in running it at 650mhz if the FSB can't reach the same but it's still pretty neat

ASUS has lost its touch with the Core 2 Duo. ASUS used to be the clear victor in terms of motherboards. Now it is up for grabs.

It's needed for running a E6300 over 4.5 Ghz... which could probably be done with phase...
