soo I just built this computer because I have become serious about playing CSSource. I dont know much about computers in terms of overclocking but I know how to use my bios.

Here's my rig : AMD 64 x2 dual core 4200 socket 939
Asus A8V-E SE mother board
Corsair XMS 2 x 1GB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200)
eVGA 256-P2-N553-AX Geforce 7600GT 256MB GDDR3 PCIEx16
74 GB Western Raptor and 250 GB Western Dig Carvaier or w/e
Antec Lanboy Case

soo my question is how do I overclock this baby to its max potential? I need help from all you smart people out there. just need someone that wants to help me get this baby all the power she can get. thanks for your replies

Hmm ok, download this program...

http://www.cpuid.com/download/cpu-z-137.zip

And go to the SPD tab, from there you can see which slots your rams are using ?

Edit : And try to find latest BIOS version for your mobo and flash it, If you know how to do it...

ok turn off your computer and switch your slot2 ram to slot3

So you will be using slot1 and slot 3 that means T1, dual channel

After that read this guide carefully...

I don't have a mic sorry but we can talk on msn ([email protected])

For the rams, i wouldn't use all 4 sticks. I am not familiar with Asus mobos but 2GB is more than enough. Dont use the 2x256MB kit on this rig.

get rid of those 2 x 256 dimms, you dont need them, and its probably slowing performance down depending on cas timings and speed etc

Firstly before you overclock you wana do the normal cleaning out, defrag etc.

Then you wana read this
The more info you can provide on your memory modules will give us an indication to their potential. The part numbers esp are important.

Take a read through the overclocking guide and get an understanding of the terminology used and principles.

Then come back and ask away

yeh the model number and revision would be good info to know, we can then find out what kinda chips your ram is running

and also if you don't know anything about overclocking, do a few weeks worth of reading. because if you ask us we're going to start talking terms you won't know. so read and find out where everything is located first, then start overclocking.....

you messed up and need to reinstall windows and READ how to properly overclock. one thing at a time.

find out your max FSB, then find out your max proc speeds. THEN combine them.
