In the market for new bookshelves to balance out my system a bit. I am not looking for flat-sounding speakers. I listen to a lot of rock, folk, indie, metal, etc. and flat speakers just don't cut it, no matter how accurate they sound. I love my Hsu sub, and these HSU HB-1 bookshelves look quite nice and have great reviews, but I don't know if horn tweeters would work for the type of music I listen to.

Any suggs?

If you can find RC-10s, that would be great, but I dunno if you can get em for $300.

SVS SBS-02 are currently on sale for $199/pr + shipping:

Ascend Acoustics CBM-170SE are $368 shipped:

NHT AbsoluteZero ~$350 shipped. Available from amazon and NHT directly, but out of stock until the 15th. Maybe other etailers have them.

PSB Image B4 are $300 shipped.

I have heard good things about the HSU HB-1 though, so give em a shot if you'd like.

I just saw a pair of them in Rosenut go for $300 on Audiogon.com

I know, but there is a chance that it will. Also it looks like someone has them on Ebay

Audioengine P4's for $250 are nice, but they're the only decent speakers I've owned so I can't compare. After taxes and shipping, and because I got the bamboo shells, I spent $440 here in Canada for a pair and I feel like they're worth it. At $250 a pair I might have gotten 2 sets of the black version.

Everyone has given excellent suggestions imo. You can't really go wrong with any..but just to make your choice even harder (because I'm a big b-word like that

) consider the Swan M200 Mk III as well. Very nice and good sounding pair of speakers.
