case aptiva x-qpac2-gd with 500w psu
HD segate barracuda 7200.11 500gb sata 3.0gb/s
MB DFI LP JR 790gx-m2rs
CPU amp athlon 64 x2 7750 Kuma 2.7ghz am2+
CPU cooling Rosewill RCX-z940-lx
RAM G.SKILL 4GB (2x2gb) 240-pin ddr2 800
Total cost shipped is $440.00
My budget is """""""!!!!!!!$500 max!!!!!!""""""""", but I would like to leave some room for a few extras like a media reader and maybe a new dvd burner.

The goal of the PC is to run CSS no problem, and I do have a 7600gt Fatal1ty card, which will do fine. and I will be running Sonar le6 for multi channel live sound recording.
This needs to me a small form factor with a handle for easy transport

The case build quality is not a big deal to me, I can make any case rock solid with some custom mods, but having some room in the case for upgrades would be nice.

I am more interested in ability to oc in future with better cooling, and quality of products mainly the MB and RAM. Any help or experience with any of these product would be great, or any compatibility issues anyone knows of. Rep+ for any good posts

All looks good to me except maybe the PSU, personally I'd go with a corsair (I have one and I love it). Going cheap on a PSU could give your PC a nice light show/shower of sparks. Usually power supplies that come with a case are no good. I had a Codegen power supply that killed 1 rig and almost took another.

Yes I will upgrade the psu down the road locally, I have a shop near by that will warranty in house, and has decent prices on psu's. will the psu be ok for the cpu w/o overclock. The processor is a 95w model. the reason I am waiting on the psu is it will break the budget.
Not to mention, the only psu I have ever had fail me was a nice ultra 700w modular psu
go figure.

it should give you significant increase. it won't make a difference with the one in your sig. or you can use that extra money to buy a phenom 2 x3 710, w/c will absolutely give you a huge performance impact in almost every applications.

You should be fine with that PSU for the time being, until you decide to upgrade.
Looks good for a budget build, good luck!

^ I would go with this deal for your processor
and this cpu cooler

this ram

Here is a case that has handles on it.. Although I suggest you pick a case that's big enough to house all your needs, and that's most appealing to you -- you can always mod your own case handles if you need to. -- this case comes with a PSU that may get you by..-- make sure your gfx card will fit

Everything else looks good, you could cut money by going with the biostar+cpu combo but remember its not mATX if that's a huge concern

hmm what else...
Best of luck to you, I'll see if i cant think up anything else...

x3 710 + 4830 for 130$ after MIR: http://promotions.newegg.com/AMD/Mar...9%2f478x88.jpg

That rosewill cooler is crap. The x3 comes with an oem cooler. So if you go that way your ok, but if your going to get the Kuma and go aftermarket with a 20$ budget get something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835233001 Otherwise i would shell out the extra15$ for a 1283 xiggy

This build here has the dvd burner and a much better gfx card then what you have, plus its a 3 core. You can probably swap out the HDD for a couple bucks (320gb is 2 $ more) i just didnt bother to take a new SS. You also get AS5 AND a free 40$ game.

5$ more for a ATX 790 Biostar board so you can get a FOURTH core possibly. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16813138130R

Also dont forget the 45$ worth of MIR's. Potentially 450$ for a whole quadcore/4830 RIG shipped.

Heck you could keep using your current PSU and save 40$

I would steer well clear of that roswell cooler. Apart from that it looks good.

Lucky sevens seems to have put together a pretty nice build there. If upgrading your graphics really isn't an issue, you should be doing much better with that processor. I've seen people put together an i7 rig (without graphics) for around 600!

Look and see about combo deals with the gigabyte ud3p board on newegg. Q9000 series are great chips that you should really take a look at.

Agreed. I have that cooler sitting in my closet. Its crap.

I guess i would use it over an OEM. But barely.

You could always drop the GFX card i suggested (though i wouldnt its basically 10$) and go with this combo if you dont like open boxes and MIR's.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.165023

Or upgrade to 720 BE

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.165025

The AMD combos right now are pretty killer deals

This board has been known to unlock the 4th cores also BTW.

Crazy that you could spend 200$ (or less) for a QUAD with plenty of OC potential AND a MOBO.

Ok, looks like a great build, you even have a micro axt mb on this build, but I need a small case with a handle built in and is very portable. I started with the case, and I picked the cpu cooler, because my build did not come with a stock cooler, and I can push my current cpu just fine with stock cooling. So my questions about the build are "is the ram you selected better than mine and why?" and "would all of this fit in my original case choice, or a similar one with a handle?" The reason I am so stuck on the handle, is because I used to have a water cooled tower in a case full tower case that had a huge strong handle on the top. I really miss that handle for transport

This build looks great. Along with the ATX version of the DFI you originally posted.

Your RAM looks just fine. I basically picked the cheapest 2x2 800ghz RAM i could find from a decent manufacturer. Ive heard of many people being very satisfied with G SKill lately.

I have no experience with your original case unfortunately so i cant help you there.

Corsair PSU would be the only thing i would change... Oh and stepping up to a phenom x3 like the others have suggested... More performance, around the same price.
I have built 2 Builds with this little Lian Li. I can take multiple Video cards a full ATX. Newegg even sells a combo with a Seasonic 550 Watt PSU already Installed. This case is Very Moddable and very Nice. All aluminum.

Ok, built system with some changes. went to 5600+ am2 brisbane "stock cooling" and got a top power 650w psu. Kept the Gskills ram. What I have found out is good= fast system, plenty of room in case, no problems loading windows or drivers with dfi software other than must update windows first after loading network drivers, psu that came with case looks "inside/outside" pretty nice, and pulled/installed in other system works great
, and mb stock bios is "sweeeet" easy cont.. for everything. bad= in order to use hdmi I have to switch jumpers on the board and lose DVI, temp display on front of case stoped working first night, but worked next moringin?????? AMD software from dfi shows 7-10deg c. on cpu temp????? case shows 30deg c. with sensor in cpu hs. So now I need a video card for dual monitor support.
Thanks for all the help, I left rep+ for everyone I think let me know if you did not get any.
