Well I was so tempted to build an am2 rig, but for some reason the e6400 keeps popping in my head...

If I was to go with a e6400 build, what would be my best combo, ram, mobo, etc? I want to go with a x1900xt for the vid card, shoot me some links, give me some ideas

Thanks guys

I would go with the ASUS P5B Deluxe, but i really wouldn't need the wifi edition, plus right now, my budget is a little tight, i have to squeeze ram, vid card, mobo, processor, sound card, into a $800 usd budget
Theyare before tax/delivery prices which would push you over $800 but you could have a tinker with the bits, maybe cheaper soundcard and cheaper GPU

Go for: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128017

I know I am bias, but seriously, for the price, this motherboard is a beauty. It has been known to reach more that 450 FSB. However it is a little skimpy on the features (namely raid).

If you just want to overclock, get this.

As for the ram, don't get the OCZ ram for this build as it is incompatible as of now (the bios changes this). Go for some XMS2-800.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145566

The E6300 is a good overclocker, but you need ridiculous FSBs. With the E6400 you do't. With the set-up above howveer, you'll have no problem taking it to 3Ghz.

If you are on somewhat of a budget, drop the ram down to the XMS2-PC5400, it will overclock to 800 easily. Then running a 1:1 ratio, the E6300 will reach 2.8Ghz.

For the video card, I reckon teh X1900XT is good, but check out the 7900GTO. THe cooler is the same as the GTX (ie. awesome ), and it'll be quieter than the XT.

eVGA has an awesome warranty as well.

You could always go OB for a while and save up for a X-Fi.

To save money you can always get a E6300.

Nice one option. Thats pretty much good. I would question getting an expensive sound card on such a budget. Put it into a nice pSU I reckon.

i would probably be happy with a turtle beach sound card, my hearing isn't the greatest, so i prolly wouldn't notice much difference
