Ram - G.Skill Ripjaws XL F3-10666CL9D-8GBXL (2x4GB) DDR3 - $115
graphics card - GTX 465 - $264 (changing from 6870 which is artefacting)
case - Antec 100 (already bought)

I have to agree. Even a cheap 32GB SSD is better than non at all.

It's always better to have a separate OS drive, anyway.

ah ok thats great im not really doing anything except the occasional round of crysis and

TBH a SSD wont do anything for me im fine having to wait a few extra seconds for a load and bsides i will be running two 500gb hdd's in RAID 0 for the extra boost anyways.

Trust me. When you run your OS off an SSD, it will make that RAID 0 look like an IDE drive

Actually, I would get an HD 6950 and unlock it.

Also remember you can buy things from eBay from here in the US.

You can't find a GTX 470 in Australia? I thought it was quite civilized over there, no offense..

Woah! Don't even THINK about getting the non-K version! Without overclocking, Sandy Bridge is worthless. And it's only pennies more!

I don';t know what an A-RAM is, but you could get a cheap Intel 32GB SSD for under 50$.

No, its like a few FPS better.

6870 is about as fast as a GTX 470

So its more of a side grade. Cant you RMA the 6870?

You don't understand.

For 2500k, 4.7Ghz is the new 3.7Ghz.

If you're not pushing it above 4.0Ghz, there is no point in getting it.

Also, the non-K version can't even OC to 3.7Ghz because it doesn't have an OC capability.

Like I said, you'll be crippling yourself by saving 10$.
