New Build, sorta...

Hey all,

My system crapped out today ( http://www.overclock.net/intel-gener...-issue-my.html ) and I'm going to be troubleshooting it.

I would like to salvage as much as possible, with the exception of the motherboard and PSU - I will be upgrading those for sure.

So, here's the list of what I have and what I want to upgrade to. Please critique!

Definite Upgrade:
Motherboard -
Gigabyte P35-DS3L -> ASUS P5N-D LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 750i SLI - $134.99 + $8 Shipping
I want SLI capabilities, even if I stick with a single card solution. Leaves room for the potential to upgrade in the future.
Don't need a crazy OC board either, although I'll miss the OC power of the P35.

PSU -
Corsair HX520 -> CORSAIR CMPSU-850TX - $125 w/ Promo, $100 w/ MIR, Free Shipping
I love Corsair, and I want SLi capability with head room.

GPU -
8800 Ultra -> 2x 8800 Ultra (Used, $125-150 likely) or 1x GTX 260 216sp if my Ultra is busted (Will wait for a deal)

Possible Upgrades:
WD HD 1TB, $105, free shipping (Fairly sure I'm going to need this)
4GB 1066 RAM - not sure what kind?

I am not opposed to going Crossfire, and have been seriously considering it, since ATi are very well priced right now - I am just always hearing about issues with their drivers, so I'm a little wary.

Thanks!

I am an ATI guy so here is what I would get.

Mobo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813136054

PSU- keep current for now until you crossfire

gpu- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121272
similar performance to 8800 ultra and alot less power consumption.

keep you ram and get the 1tb hdd

Was thinking of http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131299 if I went Crossfire. (It's a P45 chipset, and I really like the P31/35/43/45 chipsets, good experiences with them) only $120, then $105 after MIR.

4850 looks nice... maybe I could sell my 8800 Ultra for ~$125 and replace it with the 4850, then go for a second later on. Anybody got any GAME benchmarks (NOT 3dmark) that would compare the 4850 to the 8800 Ultra?

The x48 cost more but has full16x crossfire.

As for benchmarks no one is comparing that old card to the new series. Think of this. 8800gtx is close to the ultra and the 9800gtx+ is about the same and the 4850 beats that.

So I'm guessing a 4850x2 would slaughter my Ultra?

Going to be getting one.. hah.
