I'm gonna try to build a new computer.. my dell crashed on me.

This will be my first build ever. I been watching videos on yt. and helped a lot.

i had a dual core last time, but it wasn't fast enough,
do you guys recommend quad core for faster gaming and light video editing.

i believe amd runs much cooler than intel. would amd be a good choice if my budget is around 5-600$.

Thanks in advance. I have to get to work. Ill come back on lunch

Well without having a clue what your budget, this is just a basic midrange gaming rig.

with no budget just go i7 6gb ram maybe 12 if ou get into heavy editing
You can't get a quad core on a $600 gaming build. Just about anything will be stressed on a $600 budget.
well i have a little room to spend.. just seeing if i can get something decent, doesn't have to be top notch.

this should come out to under 600. There's no OS/Monitor/Keyboard/Mouse, but everything else is there.

cool, there ya go. that'll knock more of the overall price down. You'll be good to go with just an LCD/keyboard/mouse.

WRONG! i just did a build with everything but case and dvd burner for 260 shipped, no MIRs. this had a E6600 and 9800gt. so hes got $240 more, that could easily go in to a quad core, a dvd burner, and a better video card.
@hawaiian geek the 9500GT is a PEACE OF CRAP!
This is a good budget card i just got one for that $360 build.

I can sell you my motherboard. Very nice for overclocking quads. The quad is on hold for someone though
