I am going to build my own computer from Newegg. I've got a vague idea of what I'm going to get, but not completely. I'll probably only do mild overclocking when the parts are starting to become obsolete. Here's my specs so far:

X-Discovery Mid-Tower Case (Black) (No Power Supply)
http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16811144170

2GB DDR2 RAM (Don't know which to get DDR2 800 or 667)

A 7900 GS or better gfx card

Core 2 Duo E6400 (or better)

DVD Burner
http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16827152074

250GB 7200RPM SATA HD
http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16822144417

Windows MCE
http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16832116049

19 inch DCLCD
http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16824211008

As you can see, I think I'm probably missing a lot. Such as the mobo, the PSU, and others, plus, more are multiple things. Could you give me suggestions on which things to buy to try and keep it under $1500-$1600?
Any comments are appreciated. Thanks.

Any other possibilities? What's the point of the $107 soundcard? And do I really need the 600/610 W PSU?
Replies would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: And what's the Scythe Mine/Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro for?

No, you don't NEED the sound card, but it'll help.

Yes, you need a PSU that's that good. Without a good PSU, your whole rig runs the risk of crashing regularly.

The Scythe Mine and Arctic Cooler 7 are aftermarket heatsinks for your CPU. They help to keep your CPU cool and to help with higher overclocks.

I'll be back to you in a few minutes with a build.

Would a 550W PSU be sufficient (like the Antec TruePower II?)?

I just realized this, are these prices with or without a Windows OS?

Powertrips build is awesome so far.

I could recommend my build. Would probably cost you about $1200. But then again, its not as powerful as the others.

One thing: Go for the GA-965P-S3, no other board is as awesome an ocer as this for the price.

Again, would the Antec TPII be enough to power these systems?

Nice, but if you are ordering today then I would get the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817341002
That is a great deal for a great psu. And you sure about MCE? I didn't like it when I had it.

That build looks great. But if I were you I'd get at least a 19inch Widescreen LCD. But monitor I guess is just personal preference.

What's wrong with it? As far as I can tell, it is XP Pro with a few extras. Is there a bug or something? What's the difference?

Sweet Speakers It looks like your skimping in certain areas to me... ex. moniter, soundcard, speakers. With a 12 hundred dollar system, you might as well get a display with 2-4 ms response and a soundcard with some decent 5.1 speakers(but these things may not matter to you)
Edit: Niko may of had some different needs from you like advanced networking.
