How would you down your card to physycs?
I don't think that's possible...
Anyway , 2 7600GS's equal a 7900GS or GT (if Oclocked) , so choose the best for you!
But DX10 cards are coming out soon ,so i think you should do like me and wait, because they're right at the next corner.

November is the confirmed hard launch date for DX10? I'm sure it will be released right on schedule...

i heard there was a way to use a video card as a pysics processor. was hoping to maybe do that with my 7600

but yea, the only reson i wouldnt go with a new dx10 card is the price

if i could essentialy have a7600gs by buying another $100 card, it'll be cheaper then buying a $250 card

idk i guess ill have to wait and see

If you aren't going to wait until November...I suggest the 7950GS from NewEgg (300$). Avoid SLI at all costs. The CONS outweigh the possible benefits. Notice I have SLI. I really regret it.

your thinking of the new ati solution of having 3 graphic's cards, 2 in crossfire mode and the other working as a physics card.
Nvidia have something similiar under works, not much info on it though.

Cheeses, did you guys even notice that 15" monitor he has? I bet a $200 7900GS would run all games maxed out on that monitor. I always thought unneeded power is stupid.

Ya, the 8800 cards are coming out the second week of November, hooray. But still, I would say wait, or if not, get a second card, have good performance, and then later down the road get DX10. But don't bother on one newer card before DX10.

I just sold one of my 7600GSes back to Newegg, check there in a week or so for an opened box item. The 7600gses worked fine in SLI, and beat a stock 7900gt. I decided to change to an X1900XT because it's a bit faster and overclocks better. If I were you, I'd go with SLI if you can find a 7600gs for >$100, otherwise I'd buy a X1900XT.

Not everybody's rich, you know. It just doesn't make sense buying any high-end stuffs on launch date. I'd say he should settle with a current-gen card for a year or so until the next-gen mainstream comes out and/or prices drop on high-end and/or a refreshed high-end model comes out like how the 7900 replaced 7800.

I went SLI with my 7600's because I found someone selling one for less than $100. Otherwise, I would have gone with another card.

You have a 15" monitor. SLI at that res would be less than useless...

Umm, well keep in mind that the 7600GS will suck at high high resolutions due to the 128bit memory bus, along with slow memory clocks.

CRTs . I am going to get a 21 inch CRT at some stage soonish. You dont need to run a real high res with a CRT. But I guess higher res couldnt hurt if you are going to get a 27inch monitor.

People do play xbox 360 games on so called HD tvs that only have 1024x768 res and they are happy with the picture.

^^Yes you should be able to actually. It takes a lot to actually utilize SLi as far as resolution goes. I use a crossfire setup however mine monitor doesnt have a very high res. Its nice as I can max out all settings without a hitch.
