New Card.....

Hi there,

Since my 7800GT died, I got a XFX GTX 260 Core 216 Black Edition (was on sale here for $499NZD). How much of a performance difference should I be expecting to notice? I think I'm going to over expect it at the moment, so please help.

Thanks

Should be like night and day. I just upgraded from an 8800GT 512MB to the GTX 260 in my sig, and that was even like night and day to me. It gave me right at 3,000 more 3DMark 06 points (from 15,600 to 18,600). FPS wise the GTX 260 should give you at least 20 more FPS (with vsync, more with the frames uncapped
), at least. How much ram was on the 7800GT?

What resolution will you be running at and what games? Without knowing that it is virtually impossible to say the percentage of improvement you will see.
a LOT. even 8000 / 9800GT to that card makes a huge difference.

It says in his sig that it will be 1680 x 1050 with his SAMSUNG 2253BW. That is the resolution I assumed when I made my first post.

well im gonna say like at least 3x, maybe close to 4x the performance.
I would be like going from a Civic to a Corvette. You'll max games you haven't been able to come close to before and still have more fps.

What? civics>corvettes. All the extra weight from the unnecessary V8 slows it down. If Chevy cut out 4 of the cylenders it would be faster. Civics are race cars, don't you see the crews by the mall friday night? ROFL
