I have some cash to burn and decided on to spend it on something meaningful, so I want to make a dedicated folding rig. I need some suggestions on whether to go sli or xfire, and what kind of config would be (relatively) most power efficient.

So any suggestions on mobo, gpus, psu, and cpu would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I actually have a really old (socket 939) evga sli mobo, but it can only do 8x pci express instead of full 16x and a 939 4400+, could i use that?

For a dedicated folding rig, you want to go SLi. I realize ATi is getting better with their folding but Nvidia cards still take the cake. As for the old mobo you have: might be a bit outdated and you probably want something just a little bit newer.

That old mobo really wouldn't be too bad. Throw a couple 9600gso's (96sp's) in there and see how it goes.
