Hi all.

I have some Turtle Beach X11`s and although they suffice for general gaming, I need to hear the position of footsteps, voice and incoming gunfire more accurately so need 5.1 sound.

I have a Creative X-FI Extreme Gamer sound card if that helps and need to get a better audio experience when playing DayZ etc so am after a headset upgrade.

Don`t want to break the bank, just need to move up to a decent 5.1 unit.

Thanks...

Revo

Since found out that 5.1 is a gimmick..?

I was also looking for same headset gaming upgrade.

But then Simka was so nice to explain to me that almost all gaming headset have 7.1 = 8 low quality driver channels.
And it would be better to just get a good stereo headset with 2 high quality drivers.

Wel im happy with the choice.
I had a so called gaming headset with virtual surround stuff . but yea they are lies!
Think about it......

Most gaming headsets come with usb dongels right? Those usb dongel/stick have a audio card in there with virtual surround.

I am using my new headset for a couple of days now and i have to say its amazing.
Even with the fact that it doesnt have *real* surround speakers The surround sounds just better then ever.

My sound card creates virtual surround sound for me. I i cant find a difference with this setup and something similair with 8 drivers in a headphone.

Just take a look at the topic about recommend audio products, there is a short list for gaming headsets

Sinds u want to hear the footsteps and such *better* Improve your audio quality =)

Ps. i just checked out your soundcard.
And on the website of creative it says the following:

X-Fi CMSS-3D technology expands your stereo MP3s and digital movies into surround sound over multichannel speakers, stereo speakers or even headphones. Voices are centered in front of you and ambient sounds are moved all around you.

In other word u dont need multichannel headset its gonna give u good surround sound anyway.

=) Hope this helps, im not a expert on this matter just sharing my experiance with u so dont take my words as the Holy truth :3

Thanks for that Barbecuesaus , rep added.

I have decided to go for the Corsair Vengeance 1400.

After lots of reading I was converted to go with decent quality stereo headset and use my sound card for the surround as you mentioned.

Comes tomorrow so I will report back with the results.....got to be better than the Turtle Beach X11`s...

But i know everybody wants to make their own choices, and just blindly pick a product somebody recommends without reason.

i have to say ive been in favor of that company , sinds i like there stuff.

Its always so interesting when u get a audio upgrade.
This has been my third set, but first headset without the *gamer* tag.

Its about the details if u going for higher priceranges, and u need to be able to hear the difference or better to say *learn* how to hear
