Decided on building a new gaming rig and would like some suggestions.
Limit is $1000 after mir

Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128358
Ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231194
Cpu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115041
Gpu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130434
Psu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139006

This all comes up to 778.92 after mir's

That leaves 220 for either upgrades for those parts or i can buy some extra things like a new case/hd/fan's and such

I already have a nice new 22" monitor and sounds system and my current mouse and keyboard will work.

I am not buying it this right away probably in a month or so want to see what the next generation of gpu's turn out like.

it would be tight but it could work. Oh you could look on ebay for 9650 CPU there was a guy on there who had alot for sell and was around 280! but other than that nice build!

I tried to make a i7 build but the lowest i could come up with was $1100 and it was using a very questionable motherboard.

I was thinking about getting the 4870 over 260 but the 260 seems to beat the 4870 in every benchmark i have seen.

If anyone can recommend a i7 setup for under $1000 that uses a decent motherboard i would be very interested.
Woo some early price drops on some of the items make the new cost of the setup $724

So i need some suggestions on cases i have a old one that i have been using for a while but with almost $300 left on my budget i might as well replace it i was thinking about a antec 300 or 900. I am thinking about the 300 since its nearly the same unless i am missing something.(i don't really care about led's and what color the case is)

300: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129042
900: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129021
You could drop the PSU down to the Corsair 550w to save a little bit of money. You won't need 750w for that card and the motherboard you have picked out can't do SLI anyway

Also, if you're looking at cases, buy one with free shipping, or else buy it locally at frys or microcenter.
Coolermaster 690 is the best case I have had the pleasure of working with. The airflow is absolutely incredible and it will have more than enough room for your components.

Were I you, I would consider picking up a heatsink and some better fans with the extra money. Also, think about upgrading your GPU to a 4850 x2, they have been doing very well lately.

The 2 cases he picked out beat the CM690 in airflow by a good bit. Actually...to be quite honest, where is this "incredible" airflow in the CM690? The 900 or 300 with a couple fans added to the front would be much better.

The antec only has 5 points to install fans wheras the cm 690 can hold up to 9 just on the case. +the cm 690 has more ports on the front including firewire and eSATA.

For a case, I like my raidmax Dirk-Tooth. But if you like cable management DO NOT go with it. Airflow is good.

That case? No way that's better than a 300 or a 900 in terms of airflow. I don't see where you're getting 9 fans from, but that's beside the point. More fans does not automatically mean better airflow.
I dunno, I've got 9 fans in mine including the 80mm thin profile behind the cpu. Mine is a wind tunnel, and fairly quiet.

I also like my IO on the top, not front.

So where are your 9 fans? 9 CASE fans?

Unless you are now planning on trying to build a Core i7 system for $1k or waiting for price drops, you should get the Q9650 as it is only $50 extra and starts out at 3.0GHz.

The UD3P motherboard is, IMO, the best LGA775 board being made right now for overclocking. I've also read that the G.Skill RAM you're looking at performs well with the UD3P and can easily overclock to 1200MHz. The only thing it lacks is the ability to run 2x GPUs both at x16. If you decide to go with ATI and eventually XFire, one will run at x16 and the other at x8.

The GTX 260 Core 216 is a very good GPU. If you never plan on using 2x GPUs(XFire), you should get the GTX 260 or spend a little more and get the GTX 280(if the slight performance increase is worth it to you) considering that you can't SLI on the UD3P. With the GTX 280 you would still be under $900. If you think you might want a 2nd GPU in the future, you should go with the ATI 4870.

What is your plan for HDDs?
Only 280 i have seen are 300+ which is crazy imo for a gpu
I am gonna be using a Wd 640 gb hd.
For cpu gonna stick with the q9550 unless i can find a new q9650 on ebay for the same price (atm there is one but i am not ready to buy it
)
Here is my complete rig:
Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129042
Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128358
Gpu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150329
Psu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139006
Cpu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115041
Ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231194
HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136218

This all comes to about $870 + 34 shipping so $904.(IF i get all $65 in Mir's) Then i will need a heatsink and i should come right under budget. On a sidenote anyone know when they are releasing the next generation of gpu's.

he seems to have made up his mind.

However,

2 on side panel, one on bottom, two in front, two on top, one in back, one behind motherboard.

Try to find a Q9550 with the spec number of SLB8V. This is the newer E0 stepping version of the chip. Also, why not buy 2x WD 640s for a RAID0 setup? Or you could get 2x Seagate 7200.12 500GB for a lower price each and similar performance.
cpu - i7 920 $230 at micro center, if you don't have one close by, I will pick one up and ship it to you. I got a 5% off coupon I will use also.
mobo - asus p6t $250
ram - OCZ ddr3 1600mhz 3x2gb $115-$20 rebate OR there is a set of patriot viper ddr3 1600mhz 3x1gb for $50 in the fs section and the seller is also giving you the $20 rebate so it ends up costing $30!!!!
gpu - evga gtx 260 $200-$20 rebate
psu - corsait 750tx $120-$20 rebate

That is $915 before shipping or any taxes and rebates. So like $950 and you still get $60 in rebates.

Personally I would just go i7 since 775 is no longer going to have any new releases probably, it is far from dead though.

Then use that $60 in rebates towards a 320gb sata hdd or a new case or something.
