Hey guys I'm building a new PC and would like some opinions in my build. I have a $3000 budget and would like this to be a great PC I already have my custom liquid cooling loop and case. This will be for rendering, gaming and programming.

Here is what I've thought about getting so far
Core i7 3830K
Asus Rampage IV Formula
16GB Corsair Vegeabce DDR3 4x4GB 1866MHz
EVFA GTX Signiture 2 680s in SLI
EVGA GTX 650ti PhysX Card
1000w Silverstone PSU
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB HDD
Corsair GT 120GB SSD
Windows 7 Ultimate
Asus Blu Ray

Ditch the 650 ti as physics card, completely useless, a 680 alone can handle PhysX. With that budget, you should take a look a the Nvidia Titan's. And you do mean the 3930K? There is no such thing as a 3830K. Also, I would recommend getting some higher frequency RAM.

Gaming wise I would personally....

Go i5 3570k and 2x 680s/7970s. Spend the rest on watercooling, monitors. If you already have 1440p monitor then yea that builds fine. Super future proof.

And yea, dedicated physx card wont do crap for sli'd 680s.

Okay dropped the 650. . Meant to put 2133 not 1866. I also prefer full modular PSUs. I meant 3930K. Now my CPU wont bottleneck my GPUs right? Should I budget for a sound card?

What monitors should I get I have a separate monitor budget. The $3000 is for the Tower itself. I already have my case and custom liquid cooling loop.

I was thinking about three Asus Monitors.

If you have to buy windows 7, why don't you get windows 8 instead? Isn't it cheaper?

And it looks like right now the Silverstone PSU is cheapest on Newegg. I've found Silverstone PSU's to be very reliable.

So you have about $1500 left over for the video cards and monitors with the parts you listed.

If you get 3 $200 monitors you'll have $900 left over for video cards. I've seen lower end IPS displays (such as from LG very recently) at that price if you wait for good deals.

So then triple 7950s would be awesome for three monitors. $300 each.

I haven't included tax or shipping for anything though. But I also estimated the bulk of your purchase. Do you have a microcenter near you? The site isn't working for me right now though so I can't check prices.

ok.. nice.
OP, if you wanna spend such a good cash amount for a rig, i´d consider buying two titans, a 3770k some 200$ z77 board and blow every sli/cfx configuration + have futureproof 6gb vram
this will be important if i want to use the three monitors.
the 3770k wont be bnecking the cards.. consider this option. because this config would be much faster than 680´s in sli or whatever you thought about

Okay, let me look into this option; I just worry about the Bottlenecking of the GFX cards and I want to be able to Game, Render, and Program at great speeds. I appreciate all of your all's help. Please keep posting and tell me if this is a better solution than an X79 Build.

the thing is.. are 8 Threads and 8mb cache enough for ya?
i do not know much about rendering, maybe a 3930k would be faster because of more threads
and more cache but this would exceed your 3k limit.

all i know is that if i follow the title of the thread and see the cash u want to invest, id always take
2 titans over 2 680´s... a 3770k oced to 4.5 or higher will be sufficient.

but if you want more power take a 3930k, but like i said this will exceed 3k :/

I was also thinking about the titan SLI + an i7 3770k.

Only reason I didn't think about tossing it in the ring was because the titan is unavailable EVERY where. So the 2x 680 will suffice (even though I like my 7970 a bit more then my (wifes now) 680)

3770k shouldnt bottleneck 2x titans though.

This is what I'd get (I'd actually get the sabertooth x79 over the formula, but I'm biased since I have a saber and love it)

like that idea but do you guys think I should go with two titans and 3770K or 2 680s 3930k? It's okay if I go over budget I have a monitor budget I can dip into.

ideal would be 3930k+ two titans

but honestly, a 3770k WILL NOT bottkeneck any game. it has 8 instead of 12 threads and 8 instead of 12mb cache.
so if cash is a problem 3770k is still a good chouce but of course in multithreaded apps a 3930k will be faster.. hope this clears it for you

i´d also wait a while until there are some more benchmarks to be on the very safe side

I would look at u2713hm for a monitor. I bought one for a similar build and love it. Plan on getting two more to run eyefinity.

Crossovers and Catleaps are cheap knockoffs of the same monitor and do not offer things such as display port.

Might as well go all out if you are spending that much money right?
