Id suggest a 7600GT or 7300GT depending on how much you wanna spend and what games you play.

Depends on your price range, but the best bang for the buck, atleast right now, is the 7900GTO. Its priced at around £150-160.
£153.17 at ebuyer
£153.99 at overclocker.co.uk (last card on product page)
edit:
Thanks Chozart, didn't notice that I had a bad link.

First, I would not get those first gen DX10 cards anyways... so get something that will carry you over for about a year or so.
That 7900GTO sounds really good to me.

ckp64: your overclocker.co.uk link does not work

A little cheaper:
bytor, I just bought a 7900GTO for myself yesterday. I was running a 7600gt. My7600gt runs all games out right now at max settings (haven't tried Oblivion though) but I thought to myself this: When the DX10 cards come out they are going to be ridiculously expensive and possibly very buggy, as it is not only a new gen of cards but an entirely new software system that runs the new cards. I bought the 7900GTO to last me through the next year because I know it will play all the 2007 games, and next year or Q1 2008 I'll buy a $250 DX10 card which will be faster than the first gen 8series.

I would say buy something that can hold you over for 12 months now, DX9 will hold you til then.

7900GTO is an awesome bang for buck card. X1900XT is good too but $30-50 more expensive for similar performance.

Gotta agree here, I haven't gotten the 7900gto yet but a friend of mine just built out his first system and bought one and it runs everything out right now very well. I can't see that card giving you any problems.
