Just wanted to say a quick hello, i am a 38 year old computer enthusiast ..not so much as i use to be but i still consider myself very much into the enthusiast scene of computers and i have a decent amount of experience with computer hardware, overclocking and tweaking systems and of coure keeping them secure. I went to college for some certs related to computers, networking and have a few MCP (microsoft certified professional certifications). My day job is a CNC Programmer for a aerospace company called Hamilton Sundstrand which we use to make parts for the Space Shuttle and we still manufacture some parts for the F-22 Raptors along with civilian aircraft along with many other things.

I build my own computers every two/three years or so and also am a big time gamer with both computers and console gaming..although i tossed in the towel with console gaming until the next gen machines are launched later on this year. I simply cant take the dated visuals on these current consoles..in fact i tossed my xbox 360 in the garbage recently..although main reason being the drive was dying on me already and it had been my 3rd xbox 360 after three RRODs lol. I got rid of my PS3 a few years ago as well...gave it to my nephew as i wasnt really using it much...just wasnt the same as the ps2 in terms of 1st/2nd party games sony was once known for.

Recently i built a semi-high end computer which is connected to my 2010 52inch Panasonic Plasma. I been using big screen tv's as my monitor before most started to understand the benefits of doing this, it creates a true media center. I believe my All-In-Wonder 9800 Pro (classic card by the way) via component input was my first video card i connected to a tv although the results back then were nothing like they are now on a high end quality plasma hdtv. I am also a big time home theater nut..i spend quite a bit of dough on home theater equipment..much more than i do computer hardware obviously but there is nothing like playing a game like Crysis on all high settings on a quality home theater HDTV and surround sound system containing two 12inch powered Infinity powered subs with one on each side of my HDTV, Polk Audio front tower speakers and Boston Acoustic rear surround sound speakers and a decent klipsch center speaker powered by a high end Yamaha receiver. PC gaming on my living room home theater equipment is simply awesome..the power of the bass and the surround sound surrounding the room at night while i am playing a shooter is just blissful to experience. I do have a decent laptop as well that i use on a desk as well from time to time but most of my computer usage is done sitting back on a compfy couch in the living room using a nice quality logitiech wireless keyboard and mouse made for home theater setups.

Anyways...just sorta wanted to give you an idea of what kind of gaming i am into.

As mentioned i recently built a mid-high end rig consisting of the following

Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 motherboard
Intel i5 [email protected] 4.6ghz (for now)
Gigabyte 7870 Ghz Edition @ 1225core/1350memory (although i change these OC's frequently when tinkering around)
8 GB G.Skill Sniper DDR3 1600 Ram at stock speed
Thermaltake Versa G2 mid-tower Case with 6 120mm fans http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/products-model.aspx?id=C_00001943
XFX Core Edition 550watt PSU (rebadged Seasonic PSU) ..its a pretty nice PSU for the price i got it for.
Cooler Master Hyper 212+ CPU Cooler with two 120mm fans for a push/pull cpu cooling

Overall i am quite happy with this new build although i probably could of went a bit higher with the Graphics card but at the time and still today..i feel that a Gigabyte 7870 Ghz Edition @ 1225core/1350memory is around the same performance as a stock 7950 graphics card ...so i just went for the best bang for the money as i put a budget limit on my build because for the simple fact there are not as many PC exclusive games that i am personally into that truly take full advantage of lower-high end hardware which is pretty much what my system is.. a lower high end configuration. By the time these next gen consoles come out..i may consider a 2nd Gigabyte 7870 for Crossfire setup or may sell the 7870 and go with something that provides a significant increase in performance but yet still at a value price because i just dont like spending 400 dollars on a video card when 8 months later its 35% cheaper. Keep in mind that i play my games at 1440x900 resolution on my 52inch plasma hdtv...so i do not need a super high end video card honestly....this 7870 really does pack a punch overclocked and i do not need incredibly high frames per second in order for me to be satisfied..just as long as i can play on high settings at a reasonable playable frame rate..im good to go.

Other than that...i am mostly here to learn from the more savvy pc enthusiasts. I am no fanboy of any type brand,etc...the only way i consider myself a fanboy is the love of computer technology and the love of gaming no matter which platform it may happen to be on. If its a good game and its exclusive to a particular platform...i'll play it, i never understood the motivation in being a fanboy of a brand or system,etc...to me that does not truly represent what a true gamer is or what a true computer enthusiast is..at least not in my book.

Anyways, i hope to make some new friends here and learn a thing or two related to computer tech.

Peace and God Bless
