Hi everyone,

I'm building a new rig with the following components:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, Quad Core, 2.4 GHz, 2x4MB
GPU: Asus EN8800GTS/HTDP/320M, PCI-E, 320MB GDDR3
MB: Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3, Intel P965
RAM: G.Skill 2x1GB Kit, DDR2-800MHz, CL4-4-4-12, black
Case: Antec Case Performance One P182
PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower 600 Watt, ATX 12V 2.2, EPS 12V
HDD: Samsung HD501LJ, T166, 7200rpm, 16MB, 500GB, SATA-II

I was trying to build a as silent as possible rig, but I've got no idea which hsf is very silent and allows to overclock a q6600....

So, which one would fit in the case, be silent and allow a decent overclock?

the 120 extreme, tuniq tower and big typhoon are all top notch and pretty quiet. all 3 will easily fit your case too. i have a big typhoon in my p180 and it fits with 2-3 inches to spare.

the q6600 runs pretty hot from what i hear so i dont which one will cool best.

the typhoon is prolly the cheapest out of the three. quads produce alot of heat and you shouldn't skimp on a heat sink specially if your overclocking

if I took the 120 extreme, would it be necessary to add fans for a decent oc of the quadcore?

well you have to put a fan on it if you want decent temps... it doesn't come with one.

go for a Silverstone FM121, some AS5 or MX1 thermalpaste and a Ultra 120 Extreme

that will keep your cpu nice and cool^

thanks for your advice, but those silverstone fans are not available over here....
which fan is second in your top list?

EDIT> I see they're rated at 41cfm, not enough IMO. You want at least a 75cfm fan.
