I used to have an Exos 2.5 external loop with a CPU and Mobo block setup. With it I had 38 idle.

I just installed this new loop. People told me it should give better temps.

Swiftech MCP655
Swiftech 360 rad
XSPC single res
Same blocks

And I'm getting 42 idle??? Do I just need to let it run longer? It's been going for about 15 minutes.

And no...it's not my cpu block. It's mounted fine. I've checked it numerous times.

idle isn't a good indicator of how well it cools. try putting it under load. also ur idles might just be higher because of the summer heat. ur rooms probably hotter. if the high temps persist make sure your loop is fully bled.

42c idle at 4.2 is just fine. It's the load temp that matters.

Can you post a picture of the loop? Are you 100% sure all the air in the rad is out?

No it isn't. I'm sure there's still some air as it's only been on for a day or two.

I have remounted the block twice and reapplied paste. No change.

My temps have been this way ever since I first poured water in there. Actually they have gotten slightly worse as my loop has bled.

EDIT - actually a lot worse. My idle is now 45.

There is something wrong with your loop or the air/waterflow to the rad/block.

Gelid 120 silent 12's.

I put my hand above them and I barely feel them blowing air. Kinda odd.

That's probably the issue, they only have 37CFM and 1.07mmh20 static pressure. Swap them out for S-Flexes or GentleTyphoons and it should bring temps right down.

Edit; noticed you're using the old CPU block (I'm assuming the old CPU-300). I don't recommend doing that, honestly.

With a Swiftech 360 rad you need high RPM fans for cooling, if I were you i would find a way to either increse the rpm of the fans to max or like other people have said get some faster fans

Also, if your cpu block has a certain input and output... make sure the tubes are correctly placed.

Yes my loop is done like that. All tubes are good, no kinks.
