My new LCD monitor (15in Hann-G) keeps giving me these black squiggly lines(sorry for the technical jargon<img src="/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)" class="inlineimg" /> ). I reboot, and it's fine for a while, and then they come back. What is going on?

Timings is off. Was there any CDs included with your monitor?

Both my dad's LCD and my old CRT worked fine, so it's not my video card. And yes, a cd did come with it, but all it had was the manual.

I guess the timings are off then.<br />
Get PowerStrip, and I'll instruct you further. (<a href="http://www.entechtaiwan.com" target="_blank">http://www.entechtaiwan.com</a>)

Make sure that you install drivers for your monitor. And, is this on while you are playing, or just normal usage? Make sure your video card hertz rate is 75 hertz. I have a hanns-g 19 inch 5ms response time moitor. (very pleased). Just put in the disk that came with your monitor and go into your device manager. Then find your monitor, and right click it, then click properties. Then update your driver with one of the buttons and just search for the driver. It should install the driver by itself using the disk. Good Luck.

It happens when I'm playing games, or opening multiple windows, or some other stressful thing. The refresh rate is set at 75 - that's the first thing I checked.

I recently got a HANNS-G 19" Widescreen montior and I kept getting that, along with very annoying random screen flickers. As soon as I was getting ready to pwn some n00b in Raven Shield, my screen would go black for about 2-3 seconds.<br />
<br />
<br />
Here's what I did...........<br />
<br />
<br />
Download the drivers for your monitor from <a href="http://www.hannsg.com" target="_blank">www.hannsg.com</a>.<br />
Uninstall the old ones and install your new drivers.<br />
<br />
Reboot your computer.<br />
<br />
Download Driver Cleaner Pro.<br />
Uninstall your video card drivers, and run Driver Cleaner Pro to clean up the traces.<br />
I use the drivers from <a href="http://www.omegadrivers.net" target="_blank">www.omegadrivers.net</a> (which PWN). Download and install them, reboot your computer, and you should be fine.<br />

OK, I'll try the powerstrip idea first...if that doesn't work, I'll use the Omega drivers.<br />
<br />
What should I do next - I've installed powerstrip. I had to go into safe mode even be able to see - now I get the lines whenever I log into windows.

WTH! I can't get into windows to reduce it. When I try to start windows normally, I get the error "out of range." I tried it with my old CRT, and I go the same message. What is going on?

OK, I finally got into Windows with my old monitor, and set the refresh rate back to 60. With my LCD, I can boot into Windows, but the text, pop-up windows, etc are still messed up.<br><br>
Unless anyone else has ideas, I wil try the Omega drivers.

OK, my screen covered in lines for a second, then it rebooted. When I got back into windows, it said that windows shut down unexpectedly because the driver for my video card could not compete a drawing operation. Should I try a different driver? (Like maybe the omega driver I was thinking about experementing with?)
