New Motherboard - Final 2 Choices

I think I've finally reached the conclusion to my motherboard hunt. Thanks to some great advice from you guys on here and some guys on XS, here's what I've decided on.

DFI - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813136058

Asus - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131368

I'm really leaning towards the DFI. I just moved up from an M2N32, so I want to try something new. And yes, it will go in my sig rig.

Any suggestions?

Both are decent motherboards, but if your looking to save some money, Newegg almost always has 790gx motherboards in stock for under a 100. For my previous build i picked up a TA790gx A2+ Biostar 790gx motherboard for 60 bucks. In fact, these three mobos are absolutely awesome, and at a great discount. All the mobos ive ever bought have been open box btw, and they always work out great. The first one has 3 PCI-E slots! For the same price as the mobos you were looking at.

You know, you've actually made me very curious.

What was included when you purchased the motherboards open-boxed? That is actually my preferred DFI board, besides the fact that it's an SB600. I'd love to give it a try, but I'm afraid it may not include many of the accessories, which I find pretty important, and key selling-points of the motherboard. That is the best looking DFI board, by far.

I also believe the SB750's are much more capable of handling the Phenom II's, and are generally more up-to-date. If anyone on here's running that board with a Phenom II, I'd love to hear about it. Thanks.

Well, all the open box boards i have received have come with all documentation, driver cds, and accessories, although, its not guaranteed. I just bought a TA790GX3 open box for 86 and it came with everything in original packaging mint condition, however neweggs rules for open box does not require it to come with accessories. Either way, whats a few sata cables gonna cost you. Although i am sort of spoiled since i have 5+ years of computer bits and pieces accumulated up in my basement.
i'd go with the DFI board. but that being said, i just love DFI boards.

It's not a few SATA cables I'm concerned about, it's the removable heatpipes and sound card I wouldn't like to miss. I know many people have gotten all the accessories, but I wouldn't like to take that risk. At least now with this motherboard.

But it is between that one and the 790GX I posted previously.

Do you know if the BIOS is that much different from the 790FX? I know yours can do full 16x/16x Crossfire, but is there really anything different besides that, in terms of performance and BIOS options?

I sure hope so.

I did try it with my previous 790X, and it was a no-go. Simply booted up as an X3. I have an 0903 batch also. But who knows, given the fact that the 790X was faulty, I may have some luck with this DFI.
