I just added another 670 to my rig, but I'm having problems overclocking the core.

When I set the power target above 100%, the new card will not exceed 100% under any circumstance. It also will not take a +10Mhz core boost without crashing. The old card will hit whatever power target I specify, and will take a standard +65Mhz boost (~1215Mhz effective.)

The new card's memory will overclock just fine.

Anyone have any ideas?

I've seen a lot of people in here, have a problem on the Power Target, on their MSI PE card. TBH I never experienced that problem, but probably flashing to the OLD Bios will help fix the Power Target problem.

My BIOS is 80.04.31.00.46 btw....I don't know IF MSI has changed their design into their PE card.

I've thought about the possibility that a BIOS update would address the issue. However, I have some potential problems to work through before I'd be comfortable flashing the BIOS:

1) Am I going to run into problems if the cards aren't 100% physically identical? Although the models are identical, I bought this second card almost a year after the first.

2) Is there a viable alternative to nvflash? I've yet to see a set of start parameters for flashing one of your two cards that I feel 100% confident in. It also gives very little info about what's going on.

3) If nvflash is the best option, should I flash each card individually with the other removed from the motherboard?

1. I don't know if the new version of MSI PE have a slightly different design with the old version. The most things which I probably know maybe MSI has completely Locked the voltage on the card ( I mean the voltage is not beyond 1.175 volt ). It's too hard to know for sure...maybe sounds weird, but you could try to take apart of your 2 cards, and compare it. Sadly I don't have 2 card, so I can't comment so much. If I have a second card like yours, I will do it.

2. AFAIK, the best is still NVFLASH, or maybe you could try a Zotac Firestorm. But I don't recommend it, unless you know what are you doing.

3. You can do it individually (each card) with remove the others from your motherboard (someone correct me If I'm wrong).

But You can search more information on here...most of people on here will help you for sure.

I have a 670 that doesn't really like to OC, the other hits 1359 easy, prolly more with a bios mod. Luck of the draw really.
