what stepping did you get man?

It's all about the stepping of the 165 man...If you got a CCBWE, you'll probably only make it to 2.4-2.6, if it's a CCBBE or CCB1E, you have a very good shot at 3.0ghz

I paid extra on e-bay for a ccbbe 0610 but not too much 173.00 retail box better than luck of the draw at the egg!!!

I thought all Opty steppings guaranteed at least a 2.7 OC (seeing as how everybody praises these chips)? If there is a possibility of getting stuck at 2.5 I may as well get a X2 4400. @dotcomthese; do show us your results please. Planning on getting one myself.

Good stepping, I got mine up to 3012 mhz (benchmark stable, not prime stable), check out the cpuz in my signature. Its a good stepping, not as good a ccbbe0610, and if you paid extra expecting that stepping, i might be a little upset, but still its a nice stepping, expect 2.7 on stock volts, 2.8 with a little bump on vcore, and 3.0 with 1.56 volts (water would be suggested).

well the egg has them for 159.99 and luck of the draw so what i've read so far on google the extra 13.00 for a good stepping is prolly worth it. gonna go kinda slow because I'm new to the board and cpu so.keep up the posts.

Heck no man...There are the CCBWE steppings, which have pretty crappy memory controllers...So, the only good CCBWE steppings came from one certain batch date, 0546 maybe? And then, only some of them were good oc'ers..

I'd lower your VCore and see how far that gets you before raising it (unless you've already done that). You may need to loosen your memory timings.

I'm sitting at 2.8GHZ @ 1.33 vcore, I can probably do 2.85 GHZ at stock vcore.

well so far so good and no blue screens yet..thanks for the tip on the voltage forgot the opty runs well at low vcore....Only have my ram volt increasd right now, haven't touched the north bridge so it's still at 1.5...But have come across a question..there is a setting on the ht voltage should this be left @stock...if so why for future reference and if increase is needed later and same reference question...Thanks all

The Memory controler voltage like the chipset voltage...
up only as necessary when you find instability in an effort to determine where the weakness/instability is.
