my room was really warm last night cause my dad switched the ac off so i opened my windows to let him some nighttime new england air. when i woke up in the morning is was freaking cold as hell in my room so i did the only logical thing, checked speedfan. cpu was 26c idle down from the usual 34c but that is oced. and case ambient was 16c! donno bout u guys but i think a little hypothermia is a fair price to pay for some temps like that on air alone. woulda been even more excited if it hadnt been for the fact that when i woke up i found that my dog had passed away in his sleep

Last year in the dead of winter, I got a load temp of 21C!!!! Wish I took a screenie to show for it. The chip wasn't OCed, but I was really impressed with the temp! That and I was wearing multiple sweaters.<br><br>

This goes to show that ambient temperatures actually have a much larger effect on CPU temps than what cooler you use. You could be getting negative temps with the stock cooler as long as your ambient was low enough.

well nothing can be cooler then the place ur drawing ur air from so the case ambient cant be colder than the room its in and cpu cant be cooler than the ambient in the case. so ambient is very important, stick a bt in a case with poor airflow and ull still run 60c or whatever. thats why when i decided to upgrade my hsf i also upgraded to the TT armor cause cooling is only as good as the weakest link and i am extremely proud of the fact that under normal condition my case ambient is the same as the room cause u cant get any better case temp than that

26C on air is a useless number before you give out the ambient/room temperature.<br />
<br />
people in siberia could probably get lower than 10c on air with 100% overclock if they have their computers outside during cold winters.

During the winter, I plan on doing some tubing that leads from outside, through my window, to my computer.

Sometime in January I plan to take my rig outside and see if I can get 3.2 out of her. <img src="/images/smilies/tongue.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Stick Out Tongue" class="inlineimg" />

I left my AC (directly connected to the side fan) on overnight by accident and booting up my cpu temp was 45.3F (~7C).

</div>Ahh, cold air =) I remember last winter with my 3700SD (1.57v) idle in the winter was 23C in my room. My ambients were low teens. <img src="/images/smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Big Grin" class="inlineimg" /> <img src="/images/smilies/gunner2.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Gunner2" class="inlineimg" /> <img src="/images/smilies/cool.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Cool" class="inlineimg" /> <br />

Hi Voyager,<br />
<br />
I'm sorry to hear about your dog... <img src="/images/smilies/frown.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Frown" class="inlineimg" /> I hope all is well with the rest of your family..<br />
<br />
As for the cooler air and temps. I can't wait for winter here in Michigan. The windows open up, the winter coat goes on and the overclocking gets some real tests. Who need phase cooling when you have mother nature. <img src="/images/smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Big Grin" class="inlineimg" /> <br />
<br />
Take care and Fold On! :)

WOULDN'T IT SUCK IF YOU HAD YOUR RIG OUTSIDE, THE PLUG IS BY THE STREET, YOUR RIG'S SIDE PANEL IS OPEN, A CAR RANDOMLY SWOOSHES BY AND THROWS SLUSH IN YOUR COMP? <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/redface.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Embarrassment">
