Hi All

I am looking to upgrade soon.. I want to come back to AMD from intel as I like the soubf of a true 8 core system..

Have a look at this link and see if yoi think I could build better for cheaper

You can't really call the amd 8 cores as a true 8 core processor as there is only 4 dies

Where do you live? What is your budget? Do you have any peripherals? What will you use this computer for?

If you can answer these questions, the community will help you build a better computer.

Your current 2600K is a good chip, I'd just upgrade the mobo, bump the CPU's clocks and upgrade to a newer gen GPU, total will be less than the rig you're looking at. 2600k > AMD 8 core any day

So issue is Age of my system now and I can claim the money back under stuff I do for employment.

Live in the UK and aprox £700

That was what i was thinking.

I usally build my own with no issues. Just seen the price of that system and thought why bother.

Looks good. I would not need a OS or the Drives. The rest looks good tho. I would take my Ram up to 16gb

ok so no os or hard drives and you want to go with amd

so all you need is cpu, motherboard, ram, gpu, psu and your budget is £700

I would keep the current Mushkin's and if you want an 8350 or 9*** I would look into the Asus 990fx Sabertooth mobo, since you already have a substantial PSU in your sig rig. That way you have room for a beefier GPU (ie: 970/980 or 780Ti)

any here another with a 8350 and r9 290 16gb 1866mhz

if you already have a good psu you could push for a 970 and a sabertooth

From my knowledge the FX9*** all have to be watercooled (some I think come w/ a AiO Watercooler) or an extremely good air cooler. I would just stick to a 8350 (loved mine when I was using it until I snagged a 4790k)

All tempting guys , I temp to try for top end CPU's if I can. But the heat worries me on these

If I understood correctly on your last thread,tou wanted to run merely VMs?

Then you should look at 2P motherboard from amd and. Get a pair of opteron 8-10 cores but also on nvidia side you can get a dual lga1366 motherboard and get a pair of xeon x5660/5650 (which have 6cores and 12 threads per cpu and costs 100usd on ebay) which are the last overclockable cpus from intel server parts.

That should fit a 700GBP budget

Dont get the single fx socket mobo and cpus because they are the same as your i7 2600k but a dual socket mobo is another story.

PS the fx 9xxx are overclocked 83xx cpus
