New to folding

I know, I have been on OCN for over a year and have not folded for you yet. Now that is out of the way, I want to start folding for OCN. I have folded before, 2 years ago, but have since restructured my PC's. I now am ready to fold on 5 machines. So, I need some help, as things have changed since I folded. I will fold on my sig rig as well as some of my office dells. I am getting another dedicated folding machine with (3) 9800GX2's.

My question is how do i set this up? What is the best way of doing it for maximum ppd? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Consider me a complete noob when you post. Everything has changed, so i do not even know where to begin.

Thanks

I'd use GTX 295's. Or 9600GSO's. For PPD.
Mmansueto,

If you're folding on your sig rig, I would recommend downloading the SMP as well as one of the gpu2 clients from HERE

Get a copy of FAHMON to monitor what you have going on. As far as multi-gpu folding, others will have to step up and help for that.

Taeric has a great thread here that would help..

gibsonnova74 put together another great thread to help get started with folding.

also, once you get the clients downloaded, take a look at this thread to help get the most out of your folding.

While there are tons of helpful guides around OCN, these three have helped me the most outright.

I'm sure I speak for many others here when I say that we're glad to have you in the fold.

you would use 9600's over 9800GX2's? 3 x gx2's are going to cost me 520.00 US. Those are 10,000 ppd cards. Plus I can game with them on my other machine, if i want. 295's are too expensive for the increase i would get.

For GPUs I would go with GX2s or GTX295s.
The GX2s get a pretty constant 9-10k ppd. I was able to get mine for $270 shipped each (refurbs). There are some pretty good deals on eBay for them. I would suggest XFX since their warranty is usually a little better, especially on used/refurbs.

The GTX295s would be good as well. Newegg had OB ones for $350. I was arranging to get 4 of them by shipping to a second address (limit 2 per person) but they were out of stock by the time I worked everything out. I would keep a heads up for that. Link.
