Right now using Vista, but I try to shift to linux. And how are some questions before I will make the shift.
1. new to linux so doesn't know anything except it runs on command line, need a good guide for help just to run linux.
2. which version of ubuntu I need to get to run VMware for folding? Desktop or server or both of them works? I know server can use VMware, not sure about desktop version.
3. which version gives me the best folding result?
4. does VMware under Windows improve folding result?
If your a starter then definitely use Linux Mint. Has everything youu need installed. Vmware is actually just an emu of a PC inside another pc so if anything your folding result would be worse.
and folding result depends on your rig. the better stuff you have the better it can fold.

Do you plan on folding on your GTX260? If so Linux may not be the way to go. It can be done, but there is a point hit. Just a question.
Actually I am running Windows Vista now, but I got no problem moving to Linux if it is suitable for me. I got no background to linux at all, so might be tough.
I was reading up on that guide as well, but it said linux not windows so I don't know if the installation will be the same or not.
Another question is with VMware is it possible to run dual SMP clients? Guide will be great.
In the summer I can't fold with the GTX 260 due to power bill, so I am aiming for cpu SMP instead.
