Sapphire seems to be the first manuf. that is selling the Radeon HD 4860. Now before people say well what does this matter when there is the 58X0 series out. Well, it performs about between a 4850 and a 4870, so technically it should outperform a 5750 for less money. Ok, enough of me, draw your own conclusions from this guys

4860...

It's a faster clocked 4830 with GDDR5. 640 SP's @ 700mhz.

Sapphire always does this (3690 anyone?). Late eol products that would have been great if they were released at the appropriate time.

5750 is 20-30 more, your better off with that in the long run.

yeah, probably so. The 5750 is more future proof as it is a 40nm DX11 card based on rv870, where as this is a 55nm DX10 card based on rv790. ATM tho the 4860 seems kinda a better bang for buck card as it should perform better, but once the 5750's drivers mature and dx11 games get pumped out, then this will seem pretty pointless.

at least they didn't call it a 5760. *looks at nvidia*

1.) But what are the odds of this performing well in DX11 games? Or the 5850/5870/5890s? How do we know that these won't flake out in DX11 games?

2.) The HD2900XTs and 8800GTXs amazed everyone with DX10, and yet, they can't manage DX10 to it's full potential with playable frame rates (Crysis).

3.) What ever happened to DX10 games? Do you really think the developers are going to jump on the DX11 wagon when DX10 hasn't really been fulfilled?

Am I wrong or not? Did I miss something?

DX10 was not as big an advancement as DX11

No console support
. If next-gen consoles incorporate DX11 then we will start seeing games for it. That's how the market rolls nowadays.

Nice. They were only sold in Asia since mid August and didn't seem to ever be released worldwide.
How can that thing perform better than a 4850 with fewer sp's?

Higher core clock and GDDR5. And it's based off of the RV790 IIRC...so it begs to be overclocked.

well considering the only real dx11 game is dirt 2 that comes out tomorrow, we really wont know. I am mearly making the assumption as the 58x0 series are the best gpu's on the market, so i dont see any reason why they wouldn't perform well in dx11 games.

thats because they were released when dx10 was, and the advancements from their prior gen cards were not as major as what the difference is going from 48x0 to 58x0.

well dx10 isn't much of an improvement over dx9 tbh. The textures and effects in games really dont stand out, where as with dx11 the improvements are easily noticeable.

I HIGHLY doubt the PS3 and Xbox 360 can incorporate DX11.
The Xbox 360 GPU's only feature that stands out is SM 4.0
The PS3s 7800GTX well...it's just a 7800GTX+ really.

I would really like to see some more "eye candy" but with nice frames per second, and I'll stop questioning DX11.

So DX10 will be out-phased?

I thought Melcar was talking about the successors to the PS3/ xbox 360...

I think he meant NEXT gen, after PS3/Xbox 360.

Yes, DX10 never took off and is now going to just be passed over. But I can assume with the high probability of developers still putting it in for people without a DX11 card ofc, they aren't going to say "DX9, or upgrade."
