Saw this deal and almost bought a second one for RAID. Great price and free shipping to boot.

I think you made the right choice by holding off unless you do huge file transfers. These are still simply the fastest mechanical hard drives for a desktop, but you'd be better off buying a single SSD for gaming/general pc use. Again, disregard the above if you do a lot of file sharing/file transfers.

I don't do a lot of huge transfers so nothing to worry about. Once my case is finished I'm just going to set up my spare 250GB barracuda as a storage drive and be set.

I just thought I would post this for anyone who wants a fast boot drive but for whom SSDs are out of reach money wise. I've seen a huge improvement in load speeds over my old 7,200 rpm drives in RAID with just a single Velociraptor.

179.99 is the cheapest i ever seen it. 300gb at 10k rpm are one of the best hdd out there. thats all i used to build my own personal computers. loved them, now i just bought a little intel ssd. waiting for it to come in.
I thought the Seagate 1.5TB drive was faster than these, if you made it a 300GB partition?
Here's a link no HDTune shots though, that I saw, so maybe he's just full of crap.
Meh, still you're better off getting an SSD and a cheap WD or Seagate for storage.
sure if you dont care about speed. but a ssd and a 300gb vr is king of speed.
Guys SSDs are very expensive. If you want 300GB this is the fastest non SSD drive you can get, and it's a pretty awesome price.
wow that is cheap
I love my velociraptor, these things are amazing.
