Philips SHP9500 (sound like Senn HD600 with better soundstage) $48 open box

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826138190R

I own these personally, they are mind blowingly good, I have tired well over 20 gaming headsets in my days, and about 15 high end cans, HD 598, Fidelio X2, HE-400s, etc (I like the shp9500 better than x2 btw)...

anyways cheers dudes... my Pioneer's play songs like Michael Jackson Baby Be Mine better than the Philips, but the Philips is so freaking good at everything... this is a steal of a price folks, enjoy

Well actually they go on sale for $59 brand new quite often... but I mean open box for $48, especially if there is no tax in your state... is a steal for such high level cans. Seriously, these sound better than my HD 598's easily. I have heard several people compare them side by side to HD 600 a $400 can, and say these are better not only does it sound the same but has a bigger soundstage than the HD600

They're $60 with promo code EMCEJGE45

I've been relentlessly eyeballing these pretty much ever since I sold my Q701s. I want new cans but my Superlux 681s still get the job done, can't bring myself to pull the trigger

I own the 681 EVO's as well and loved them for a couple years now... haha buy these Philips mate... give it some time, close your eyes... listen to game OST's, listen to flac files... compare both... HD 681 EVO's are collecting dust now for me

always will have a special place in my heart though

Well these may not be as impressive to you then, but from the budget audiophile world these things are way above their pricepoint, lol

Got these for $59 shipped from a NewEgg seller a few days ago. Should be arriving today. Heard very good things about these open cans. They also work with a V-Moda Boompro mic, so you can turn them into a gaming headset.

Now on the hunt for a pair of closed cans.

If your on a tight budget, the Monoprice 8323 for $15 is the best closed cans for the price range under 100 bucks. Otherwise... Fostex/my sig ^^

Thanks for the heads up on these bad boys. I have been interested in a nice pair of headphones, but it hasn't been on the need to buy list. For the past couple years, I have been using the Logitech UE 6000's because I grabbed them from staples for a clearance price of $12. Threw a mod mic on it and its been useful with good quality.

I ended up going with a new pair thanks to AgentHydra's coupon code which covered most of the shipping cost. Can't wait to try these things out!

I've seen those Monoprice ones but I'm looking for large cans. Those Fostex are really nice but I didn't want to go over $100. The Audio-Technica ATH-A700x is what I'm looking at getting ($80 on Amazon atm).

I was NOT impressed by the monoprice cans. I got a set around Xmas, and I find the soundstage to be lacking tremendously. It's weird. They have a lot of detail and are pretty balanced as far as frequencies go, but they just sound like 2 speakers strapped to your head. No sound stage whatsoever.

Anybody know how these Phillips would stack up against some K240s?

The more I read up on the ATH-A700x's, the more I see people complaining about the build quality. I'll just wait and get a set of good closed cans later on.

Just got the Philips in. Wow, these are very light & super comfortable! Finally, my ears won't hurt from my glasses.

Now to search for better quality earpad mods.

I'm not an audiophile at all but they sound great to me.

Seriously though from everything I've seen and read these look like fantastic value cans. I enjoyed the sound of my Q701s but I hated the headband from day one, these look really comfortable. Love the way they look too.

I'll update when I get them, I sold my Schiit stack too unfortunately, hopefully these don't need much to drive them.
