In the Uk they are priced as:

GTS250 = £150-170

In comparison:

GTX260 = £150-170
HD4870 = £150-170
9800GTX+ = £115-130
HD4850 = £110-120
9800GT = £85-105
HD4830 = £85-100

A fail of a release in the UK IMO

I've had the $130 one in my shopping cart since about 4am... hope I get paid enough today to buy it.

So what exactly is a GTS250? Is it a new card?
Or a rebranded 88/9800 with a different cooler?

Nvidia marketing makes my head spin.

Not a bad price. And the 1gb model is perhaps worth the extra cache, and still cheaper then a 9800gtx+.

I heard ATI has some price cuts coming though, so if that is true this might spoil the party.

GTS 250 = 9800GTX+ with the 1gb GDDR 3 but clocked back up to the 512 version speeds
GTS 240 = 9800GT clocked a little higher

4850 is still much cheaper. Price isn't too bad, though.

EDIT - Nevermind. This one is priced well.

Yea, at least Nvidia caught up quick and moved to price 512 9800GTX+/GTS 250 more competitevely against hd 4850.

At these prices I would say the GTX 250 is a better buy. The HD 4870 is looming only a little further ahead though, with some 512mb models being as low as 169 before any rebates.

Just to clarify:
9800 GTX = 65 nm core
9800GTX+/GTS 250 = 55nm core. The GTS is available in 512 and 1 gig versions, the GTX+ is just 512 (for now).
Comparison

The 9800GTX 1GB versions were apparently slower their their 512 counterparts, but the GTS 250 versions should be the same speed.

Right?

Right?

I hope so. If nVidia was going to do a rebrand, I would hope they make it at least as fast as the 512MB one.
